More Than 50% Off American Airlines Admirals Club Access, One Week Only

For the next week a Qantas Club membership is half off. That means it will will cost ~ US$251 (AU$300 for the membership plus AU$99 joining fee).

Qantas Club membership includes American Airlines Admirals Club access when flying American.

When travelling with American Airlines, as a Qantas Club member you and a guest are welcome at American Airlines Admirals Club lounges. Simply present your Qantas Club card together with your boarding pass at the lounge reception. Both you and your guest need to be travelling together further that day on a flight marketed5 and operated by the partner airline whose lounge you wish to visit.

In contrast, American charges $550 – $650 for a first-year member, depending on the member’s AAdvantage frequent flyer status.

Membership type AAdvantage® AAdvantage Gold® AAdvantage Platinum® AAdvantage Platinum Pro® AAdvantage Executive Platinum®
Individual – new $650 $625 $600 $575 $550
Individual – renew $600 $575 $550 $525 $500

This is available until October 17 Down Under. There are other ancillary benefits of course, like priority check-in and extra baggage on Qantas flights, and access to other partner airline lounges.

To be sure many will prefer the Citi Executive card’s current offer to earn 80,000 bonus miles with qualifying spend, along with its $450 annual fee.

  1. Just to note that I’ve had some issues lately with my Qantas Club card at sevarl Admirals Club locations requiring long discussions with the front desk staff, calls to the manager, and a couple of “one time exceptions”. I haven’t been actually denied access but it has been less than ideal.

  2. @Alex, was curious too.

Here’s the text from the link:
“As a more recent addition, Qantas Club members can now visit Alaska Airlines’ lounges in Los Angeles, Seattle, Anchorage and Portland when travelling with Alaska Airlines on a QF codeshare flight number, when connecting to or from a Qantas international flight.

Finally, American Airlines’ Admirals Clubs welcome Qantas Club members the world over when jetting onwards on a QF or AA flight number – the latter being a less-publicised perk of the program.”

The way it’s worded implies that the AA Admirals Club allows you in on any AA flight, whereas AS Clubs only allow you in if you’re on a codeshare or connecting from a QF flight.

  3. Total Qantas novice -.signed up for this under the register as a new frequent traveler option as I have never had a Qantas FF number . Is the number that was given as my new club number also my new Qantas frequent traveler number ?
    Thanks for any advice !

  4. @Maxie, yes. Qantas Club just uses your regular QF frequent flyer number.

I’d love if people can report any difficulties or successes they have using their (new) QC cards in the Admirals Club.

  5. To get the club membership as a new member they want USD $324.00 (not $251). No thanks. Of course now they’ve got my email information even though I didn’t complete the application to join.

The membership prices in AUD 324, the site doesn’t spell it out…

  7. Purchased. No brainer for us here in SEA for flying AS. Headed to IAH today. Hopefully the Quantas app QR code + my confirmation email gets me access.

  8. Purchased but theres been mixed comments on Flytertalk and here about issues using the AA clubs with it. TPG says that its allowed and quoted AA rep but can anyone post where its mentioned on the AA website (I haven’t found it) as I would like to have documentation in case they push back when im in DCA

  9. @Jeff said – “Would the Amex Platinum Airline Fee Credit work with this?”

    No. It would not.

Quantas is not one of the qualifying Air carriers that you can select.

(And yes, I even called to verify.)

  10. I spoke to Alaska Airlines and they stated that you will be admitted to the Alaska Lounge with the Qantas club membership if you are flying on an Alaska Ticket with Oneworld Sapphire or Emerald Status with no international connection needed.

  11. This is working fine for me even without the physical card, I just scan BP and go in, the system recognizes me, it is awesome….
