News and notes from around the interweb:
- Capital One introduces retail redemption, not usually a good deal, but they’re offering some products up to 40% off at launch such that Airpods, a Tumi Alpha 3, and other items are available both with a discount to retail and miles worth about a penny apiece. Not tempting for me, but useful for some.
- Tours will be offered of the Denver Stapleton airport control tower starting November 15 (HT: Joe)
- Avis Charged A Customer $4,100 For A 10 Day Rental (HT: Paul H) Customer picked up the car in Atlanta, Avis said he picked it up in San Antonio. The car was returned, Avis said “put the keys in the center console” and leave it, Avis said it was never returned, and Avis insists that “the location where the customer rented from..does not accept after-hours drop-offs.”
- World’s smallest aviation markets the Ukraine market is smaller than Christmas Island and Saint Pierre now.
- Not actually about recently-announced SkyMiles changes, sadly.
[D]elta would not ship his seafood over seas but its ok for delta to fly people to the keys to eat at his restaurant, the employs have no say in what’s shipped. Never will I eat there again after 16 year of spending my hard earned delta money there.

- TIL what the Seattle Kraken are (HT: Joe) though there’s something odd about an airline promoting climate pledge arena?
- 20 years ago when I used to do seating for large dinners, table 1 was never the most important table. Table 1 was for the people who needed to feel important, but were less important.

The current deals for Capital One retail redemption look like an excellent way to flush points down the toilet. Essentially, you are getting an above market price with a poor point redemption. I’ll have to think about it. . .
Most of the $4,100 Avis charge plus the cleaning charge is for stupidity. Leaving the keys in an unlocked car is just plain stupid. Maybe Avis could adjust it down a bit but the charge should still stand.
