New Years Special: $988 Cathay Pacific First Class Asia Back to North America
I just wrote about $675 roundtrip from Vietnam to the US in Cathay Pacific business class. Even if you just book a one way award ticket to Asia and use this for your flight back to the U.S. it’s an amazing steal.
However there are amazing (even better!) first class fares, too.
Hurry: Cathay Pacific Business Class Back to Several US Cities From $675
Oh my goodness this is an amazing fare. You can fly from Southeast Asia to New York in Cathay Pacific business class from $675 roundtrip. Even if you book an award ticket to Asia and use this as a one way ticket to get back (and throw away the return) you come out way way ahead.
You can fly from Vietnam – the cheapest fares originate in Da Nang, but other cities work as well – to Cathay Pacific’s US gateways starting at $675.
Free Hotel Discount Site Signup Ends January 7
Last week I wrote about a Club1 Hotels offer. It’s a membership site that offers discounts on hotel bookings. Since they normally charge a fee to join their hotel rates aren’t subject to hotel ‘best rate guarantee’ policies and they frequently offer savings compared to how hotel websites are pricing.
Their membership has been priced at $675 for a year, but they’re giving away one year memberships that provides access to discounts. It’s worth signing up just to check out pricing.

A passenger flying from Dubai to Lucknow, India on Saturday walked up and down the aisle on Air India Express flight IX94 before taking off his clothes.
The man in his mid-30s was quickly ‘pounced upon’ when crew saw him nude. On arrival he blamed Pakistanis for stressing him out.
Two Problems With American Airlines Lavatories: Size and… Sexism?
Google’s Head of Home and Nest Product Planning called out American Airlines lavatories not because they’re too small for baby changing, but because their baby changing sign is sexist.
Dave Ramsey: If You Collect Airline Miles You’re “falling for stupid credit card tricks”
I’ve used miles to travel the world in a way I never would have expected to be able to. I’ve had some amazing experiences, and done it very comfortably, for a fraction of what it would have cost to purchase these same experiences. I’m humbled and grateful for the opportunities that miles and points have afforded me.
Personal finance guru Dave Ramsey though says it’s all a con.
How to Pick the Hotel Program That’s Best For You
A lot of members are frustrated with Marriott — for botching the Starwood integration, for failing to deliver on the benefits they promised, and for generally unhelpful customer service. I argued that doesn’t make Hilton better, that Marriott disappoints but shouldn’t surprise — they are the largest and still offer better elite benefits, why would you think they’d be better?
I learned several things making the argument and listening to reader comments and commentary from other blogs.
