Many foreign airlines have strict limits for cabin baggage. Americans aren’t used to this, they can pretty much drag anything onboard that is going to fit in an overhead bin as long as there’s still bin space available and certainly US airlines don’t weigh your rollaboard.

Whether Air France or Virgin Australia, airlines around the world take a different approach even for business class passengers. I do my best to avoid check-in counters when I’ve got heavy bags. If I can get a boarding pass online I will. But if I need to approach the counter, and they see my bag, they’re going to want to weigh it.

British Airways Avios Changes Coming in 2017 and Cuts Coming to BA Product to Become More Like Norwegian

It’s been tough to be a British Airways customer over the past few years, and things are about to get much tougher in the face of uncertainties surrounding Brexit and competition from low cost transatlantic carriers like Wow Air and especially Norwegian.

And they’re going to mash together all the different Avios programs into one. They haven’t told us what that will look like, but British Airways makes it look like the independent and more valuable ones moving to the less valuable shared program. We’ll have to wait and see.

Avatar Airlines Raising Money to Start 747 Domestic Service to Albuquerque and Beyond

After Baltia Airlines gave up on its decades-long quest to start Boeing 747 service between New York and St. Petersburg, Russia and sought to raise funds on a new business plan to fly regional jets between Baltimore, Trenton, Islip and Albany (BALtimoreTrentonIslipAlbany) it’s time for another airline to propose all-747 service.

This time domestically. As an ultra-low cost carrier. That doesn’t charge checked bag fees, seat assignment fees, and gives free wifi. But will earn ancillary revenue selling inflight meals branded with top restaurants — and by selling souvenirs.
