A year and a half ago Hyatt introduced a new top redemption category 7 costing 30,000 points per night. They also increased the price of category 6 hotels from 22,000 to 25,000 points per night.

At the time, the Park Hyatt Hadahaa Maldives was spared the full treatment. It remained category 6 so only saw its price go up by 3000 Gold Passport points.

This year, however, the Park Hyatt Maldives jumped up to category 7. So in two years it went from 22,000 points a night to 30,000 points per night, a 36% increase.

Strangely, and without announcement, the Park Hyatt appears to have dropped back down to category 6.

It isn’t just located on the category 6 list, it also prices out for category 6 points:

This may or may not be intentional, so if you have an interest in visiting over the next year you may want to book now and save 5000 points per night.

Bear in mind that the Park Hyatt Hadahaa Maldives has a 30 day cancellation policy, but of course like other award bookings it’s fully cancellable if you’re considering even a speculative booking.

It’s my favorite resort, I’ve gone there each of the past four years, but there are five reasons you may not like it so consider those before committing.
