I’d start with talking to American Airlines, get Dallas up and running 3 times a week to replace Seattle and Tokyo, and shore up finances. Once the 787-9s are operating profitably, consider whether narrowbodies make sense to free up widebody capacity for new routes – but recognize that the number of routes that will work are limited.

Air Tahiti Nui Is Handing Out Free Elite Status—But Only To First-Time Program Members
Maybe it’s unlikely that you’ll need Air Tahiti Nui elite status? But this one is free, takes very little effort (just fill out their form) and you never know when having elite status with an airline other than the one you fly most could come in handy for status matching to another carrier. Can’t hurt!
Air Tahiti Nui Will Partner With Alaska Airlines, Fly To Seattle
Air Tahiti Nui is launching non-stop Papeete – Seattle service and a new partnership with Alaska Airlines. This is in addition to its partnership with American AAdvantage.
American Airlines Adds Option For Premium Economy Awards On Air Tahiti Nui
For many of you French Polynesia is about the destination and not how you get there. But a whole new way of getting there has been opened up to AAdvantage members. Up until now there’s been no competition for premium economy award space – it was available only to Club Tiare members. We’ll see how long availability remains this good now that so many more people can book it.
LAX International Lounge Review
Air Tahiti Nui uses the LAX International Lounge – or more formally, Los Angeles International Lounge at LAX. I hadn’t visited this lounge before, and my expectation were low – but exceeded.
The Los Angeles International lounge is used by El Al, Air Tahiti Nui, Philippine Airlines, Fiji Airways. The lounge is also used by Japan Airlines for premium economy passengers. It was basically empty while I was there, and seems a perfect candidate for Priority Pass, but it isn’t accessible through any lounge access programs – just with a qualifying boarding pass.
Wide Open Business Class Awards to Tahiti Through End of Schedule
French Polynesia is one of the toughest awards in the world to book. In part that’s because there are only four flights between the U.S. mainland and Tahiti, and because three of those aren’t even operated more than 3 times a week.
It’s a desirable destination, perhaps one of the most naturally beautiful in the world. And right now you can book 2 business class award seats on about half the dates between now and end of the airline schedules.
