Alaska Airlines Passenger’s AirTag Traveled To 37 Cities While Its Owner Watched, No Miles Earned!
An Alaska Airlines passenger put an AirTag on their luggage last summer before checking it in San Francisco. The bag was delivered to San Diego just fine. It was at baggage claim shortly after landing – without the AirTag on it. The tag had fallen off.
The plane was an Embraer E-175 regional jet operated for Alaska Airlines by SkyWest. And that SkyWest plane has been “bopping around the western US and Canada ever since” with the passenger’s AirTag in the cargo hold.
Delta Air Lines Fires Employee Who Stole Passenger’s Headphones
A Delta Air Lines passenger tracked down the noise cancelling headphones he left on a flight at an employee’s house. The airline says the employee is no longer working for them. Mat Krantz left the headphones behind when he got off of a flight from Atlanta to Raleigh. He realized right away that they were still on board as soon as he’d exited the jet bridge, but he wasn’t allowed back on board to retrieve them. He filed a report with the airline and airport, and he tracked the headphones with the help of an Apple AirTag which was attached to the headphones’ case. “You Have My Shirt On!” Man Confronts Luggage Thief In Atlanta Airport
Jameel Reid flew from Los Angeles to Atlanta and waited for his luggage at baggage claim. Atlanta residents aren’t used to waiting half an hour for bags – Delta offers a 20 minute guarantee – so after 30 minutes he pulled out this phone and tracked the location of the missing bag which he’d left an Apple Airtag in. The bag was already outside the airport.
Two days later he saw his bag’s airtag location returned to the airport, so he went back himself and contacted airport police.

Is A Luggage Tag Saying You Use An AirTag As Good As Using AirTags?
For high value items, just write “STEAL FROM THIS BAG” on your tag instead of identifying its contents? As for advertising use of Airtags, two schools of thought.
Passenger Uses AirTag To Track Down Valuables Stolen From His Luggage
Los Angeles-based documentary film producer and cinematographer Erroll Webber had film equipment go missing from his luggage in Anchorage. Before checking bags on his United flight he stuck an Apple AirTags on one of the equipment bags.
Webber’s bag made it, he says, without the film equipment. But he was able to track it to the perpetrator’s house.
