Comedian Tells Conan About Finding Poop in Her Blanket on Delta Airlines

Comedian Nicole Byer went on Conan last night and told the story about finding poop in a sealed blanket on Delta last March.

She pulled her first class blanket out of sealed plastic and “brown crumble falls on me” then she saw a “brown thing” and the smell hit her. She told a flight attendant… whose first reaction was to get his phone and take pictures.

Amtrak Acela Train Separated in Maryland This Morning

Amtrak’s train 2150 from Washington Union Station to New York Penn Station broke apart between the first (first class) and second (quiet) cars this morning and “sparks and smoke went everywhere.”

There have been four fatal Amtrak incident since December. Fortunately no one was walking between cars when this incident occurred today or we’d be looking at a fifth.

It’s Back! Delta Premium Economy Many Cities to Beijing From $597 — Less Than Coach!

Right now there’s an incredible fare starting at just $597 roundtrip in premium economy between several U.S. cities — at least Chicago, Boston, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Denver, San Diego, Baltimore and Austin — and Beijing, and it’s widely available through end of April. That’s flying premium economy for the same or less than coach.

US-Qatar Agreement Even More Hollow Victory for US Carriers Than They Claimed

There was no limitation on flights from Doha to the U.S. And it turns out that the actual agreement contains only a side letter indicating that Qatar’s civilian aviation authority is “unaware of any plans by Qatar Airlines to start” flights between third countries and the U.S. There is no promise about avoiding such flights in the future.

Delta Attacks Boeing as an “Arms Dealer” to Gulf Airlines

This week’s Airline Weekly (subscription only) interviews Delta CEO Ed Bastian. Delta doesn’t order new Boeing aircraft, but argues that foreign competition is bad for US jobs.

Despite a path towards declaring victory and going home in their fight against Gulf airline rivals, Bastian pushes back on criticisms over Delta’s purchase of subsidized Bombardier C-series jets by calling out Boeing for their willingness to sell planes to the Gulf carriers.
