It’s a place to pick up packaged food, like chips, veggies, fruit and sad salads. What people like best is (1) the barista made coffee, and (2) free food since you really aren’t supposed to take food from United’s regular clubs (but people still do).
Denver airport is talking about their next international flight add being Emirates to Dubai and they seem close to subsidizing a new flight from Ethiopian.
A year ago United filed a “large development review” plan with the City of Denver that did include adding 12 flight simulators for pilot training, but also allow for a new corporate campus that would support 5,000 employees, enough to move all the workers at the current Chicago Willis Tower headquarters.
They’ve now revealed more details about how the land at 17671 E. 64th Avenue east of Pena Boulevard near Denver’s airport would be developed.
Lufthansa is putting the superjumbo Airbus A380 onto the Denver – Munich route April 30 through September 30th. The plane will also operate from Munich to New York, Boston, Washington, Los Angeles and Delhi.
That’s a lot of airplane with a lot of seats to fill, and award space especially on the Denver route is wide open using miles from partner frequent flyer programs.
Is there any worse airport in the United States than Denver International Airport? I don’t think anything else even comes close. To start, Denver airport has the worst TSA setup in the country. In fact, this has been a mess for more than a decade. It just never gets better. And they clearly don’t even think through trying to make it better.
Over 200 United Airlines flight attendants, along with other employees, reported severe gastrointestinal issues after eating the airline’s Christmas holiday meal at Denver airport. Symptoms such as stomach pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting emerged rapidly, with multiple attendants missing work and at least one reportedly becoming ill mid-flight.
Management dropped rates below $100 on some nights – but that attracted a different clientele, “a rise in drunken and disruptive guests.” With reduced revenue, the management company HEI pushed out long-time employees who delivered the high quality service the property was known for. Then “[m]ore homeless people entered the hotel and fentanyl contamination showed up in lobby bathrooms.”
The property blames the pandemic for reduced staffing in 2024. Remaining employees have been told they “no longer work for a hospitality company” but “for a real estate company” instead.
It’s not very good! But it’s free food! Of course the schnorrers are going to come out in droves and take the food, even if they don’t eat it.
Turkish Airlines is adding a new Denver – Istanbul flight this summer, and business class awards are wide open – with availability most days starting in July through end of year (and plenty of space returning in January 2025 as well).
Use this to fly to Europe in peak summer! Even during the Paris Olympics. Connect west back to Western Europe, or connect eastward to Asia – you don’t need to use this to go to Turkey. It may be your jumping off point to the Mideast as well. And United Airlines saver award space can be added into awards to get to and from Denver as well.
Denver airport’s train system has broken down. Only one train can run every ten minutes. Passengers are backing up waiting for trains and inside the terminal and people are missing flights, as the airport runs buses from the A concourse to other concourses.
