Singapore Airlines Will Introduce New Boeing 777 Business Class Seats and First Class Suites in 2022

Nov 11 2019

Singapore Airlines has several different first and business class products in its fleet. Their Airbus A380s are in the process of being transitioned from an old business and first class to a new product. Singapore’s A380 business class is an evolution over the old lie flat seat, in which taller passengers still have to sleep at an angle rather than parallel with the aisle. Meanwhile the first class suite has a separate seat and bed and dividers can be taken down for passengers traveling together so that they have a double bed to share. Singapore Airlines Introduces a Third Champagne Choice and More Caviar to First Class

Oct 23 2019

Unquestionably Singapore Airlines has one of the great international first class products. Admittedly their lounges are somewhat sub par. However their food and beverage program is outstanding. Their main meals are my favorite. And their wine program is fantastically curated. What could be greater luxury – beyond the quality of the champagnes, even – than the ability for passengers to have choice?

American Airlines plans to drop the cheeseburger from lunch service in mid-November, however they have already run out of beef patties and aren’t buying more. Instead of a choice between salad and a cheeseburger, customers are being given a choice between salad and vegetarian pasta. Customers who may have pre-ordered cheeseburgers are getting a surprise – no meat option at all.

American Airlines Replaces First Class Chocolate Chip Cookies

Oct 08 2019

American Airlines used to serve the most wonderful baked on board cookies. The whole domestic first class cabin would fill with the smell of fresh baked goodness. It was that smell, even more than the taste, which made the flight feel like home.

After US Airways management took over, and then implemented US Airways catering standards (while meeting in the middle the distance of flights that got meals) in September 2014, baked on board cookies were eliminated. They explained that since legacy US Airways aircraft had just one oven up front, it was tough for flight attendants to heat both meals and cookies at the same time.

Korean Air Lets You Pick First Class Seats When Flying Business Class (Airbus A330, Boeing 777-300)

Jun 15 2019

A little over a month ago we learned that Korean Air would be dropping first class from many of its routes.

While Korean Air’s first class lags in quality behind many other Asian carriers, I’ve especially liked that I could fly to Asia in first class and connect onward in first class as well because much of their intra-Asia route network offered a first class cabin.

Great American Airlines First Class Award Space West Coast – Europe Without Fuel Surcharges

flight chart
Jun 03 2019

West Coast – Europe award travel is tough, getting premium cabin to Europe on American Airlines (and thus not paying surcharges) is tougher still. This is definitely worth taking ‘AAdvantage’ of. And if you have a stash of Etihad Guest miles, ring up about your preferred itinerary to see if they can book for 50,000 miles each way in business (vs. 57,500 from American) or 62,500 in first.

However if there was any doubt that American’s married segment award availability logic was in play for premium cabin awards now (and with ensuing negative consequences for making changes to awards) this should illustrate the extension beyond coach — and is a part of dynamic availability if not pricing.
