British Airways Wants to Buy Norwegian – So It Can Raise Transatlantic Airfares

Back in April British Airways parent company IAG acquired just under 5% of Norwegian and started talks to acquire the discount carrier. I assumed that acquire meant smother it so that the airline wouldn’t keep depressing transatlantic fares, especially out of cities like London.

Chairman Willie Walsh addressed a Norwegian deal at their investor day.

British Airways May Try to Kill Low Cost Transatlantic Flights

What if a legacy carrier could take low cost carrier competition and – as Grover Norquist once said — “drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub?”

British Airways parent IAG has acquired a 4.61% stake in Norwegian and plans to initiate acquisition discussions. Of course IAG says they view Norwegian as ‘an attractive investment’. At this point almost no one views Norwegian as an attractive investment.

Flight With Over 60 Plumbers Turns Around Because of Clogged Toilets

A Norwegian flight from Oslo to Munich had to turn around because of lavatory problems. Or as Google translate puts it, due to “a mistake on the toilets on board.” That sort of ‘crap’ happens all the time.

However what was unique about flight DY1156 is that there were 85 employees of a plumbing company on the plane and “60-70 of them plumbers.”
