This Marriott is reportedly hiding parking charges as mandatory “City Fees” — even for guests without cars. It’s not the first hotel I’ve heard of doing this.
The man was rampaging at the airport’s car rental area, in the same complex as passenger parking. He “grabbed a broomstick and broke the mirror off a vehicle, causing $8,000 in damages.” When officers confronted him he said “they were going to have to shoot him to get him to stop.”
The illegally-parked Porsche – intruding on a handicap space – left the woman ‘alone in the dark’ and unable to get into her vehicle to leave. Parking staff told the woman to call the police. Police told her to deal with parking staff. This went on for hours.
A husband and wife had just landed at the Salt Lake City airport, returning from vacation, and headed to the airport parking lot. That’s when the man got in their SUV and “ran over his wife and killed her” on Monday afternoon.
There’s been a rash of thefts from airport parking lots in Orlando. And the thieves are all going for muscle cars. Airports have some of the toughest security operations in the country, and I don’t mean TSA. There are law enforcement officers of nearly every flavor at major destinations, and cameras everywhere.
But those aren’t deployed to stop crime, they’re often focused on drug interdiction of lifting cash from passengers who aren’t committing any crimes. They’re certainly not protecting cars in the parking lot.
