Worst Vacation Ever: Husband Purposely Runs Over Wife In Airport Parking Lot After Flying Home

A husband and wife had just landed at the Salt Lake City airport, returning from vacation, and headed to the airport parking lot. That’s when the man got in their SUV and “ran over his wife and killed her” on Monday afternoon.

Police said 38-year-old Shawn Christopher Sturgeon hit his wife Charlotte Sturgeon, 29, with the couple’s SUV after they returned from a vacation.

According to Salt Lake City Police, the incident started on the on second floor of the airport parking garage around 2:40 p.m. Monday.

“Shortly after the crash, Sturgeon drove the vehicle, with his wife critically injured inside, to the airport parking payment booths where he asked for help,” police wrote in a news release Monday night.

The man has been arrested on charges of “automobile homicide – criminal negligence DUI.”

And I thought this would be the worst travel story I’d read today.

  1. Negligent DUI isn’t “purposefully.” Not acceptable, but not “purposeful.”

  2. In 2002, Clara Harris was convicted and jailed until 2018 for repeatedly and intentionally running over her Clear Lake City (Houston) dentist husband, who died. The ghost of the husband seems to have come back to run over a wife.
