Turkish Airlines just wiped out the last meaningful value in its Miles & Smiles program. After raising United domestic awards last year, Turkish has hit them again: mainland–Hawaii business class jumps to 40,000 miles each way when two years ago it was 12,500.
Adams and his partner bought coach tickets to India, and Turkish upgraded them to business for free 48 hours prior to travel. He took a relative to Europe and Asia in business class for free on Turkish. And he also accepted free business class tickets to Nepal and Beijing. He was given a two-night stay in the Bentley Suite at the St. Regis Istanbul for less than $600 and a free two-night stay in their Cosmopolitan Suite.

The FBI is investigating New York City Mayor Eric Adams over free upgrades from Turkish Airlines on both official business and leisure travel. It’s part of a wider corruption investigation into the Mayor’s 2021 campaign.
These allegations have prompted searches and seizures by the FBI, targeting Adams’s electronic devices as well as the homes of others linked to these arrangements, including a former Turkish Airlines executive.
Turkish Airlines is adding a new Denver – Istanbul flight this summer, and business class awards are wide open – with availability most days starting in July through end of year (and plenty of space returning in January 2025 as well).
Use this to fly to Europe in peak summer! Even during the Paris Olympics. Connect west back to Western Europe, or connect eastward to Asia – you don’t need to use this to go to Turkey. It may be your jumping off point to the Mideast as well. And United Airlines saver award space can be added into awards to get to and from Denver as well.
