News and notes from around the interweb:
- United thinks its ‘quick turn playbook’ has a lot to do with improvement on time arrival performance. United found they turned aircraft 6-10% slower than rival carriers. They plan to roll out changes to United Express later this year.
- I stay pretty well on top of credit card offers, I first became a Chase Sapphire Preferred Card cardholder in 2011. But I had no idea about Sapphire Sundays and cardmembers having brunch with Chrissy Teigen (who wishes she could be an airline blogger).
Credit: Chase - The 10 least visited countries in the world. I was surprised Somalia, Syria, South Sudan, Libya, and the Central African Republic didn’t make the list. Neither did Democratic Republic of Congo, Burkina Faso, or Central African Republic. Or Burundi.
- Hilton Vice President and Head of HHonors Aaron Glick departs the company this week. He’s headed to Williams Sonoma, where he’ll hope to squeeze more revenue from their Comenity co-brand and help the retailer’s best customers to buy expensive kitchen devices.
- You’re not actually going to succeed opening the aircraft door while still inflight. But this is what happens to you after you try. An American Airlines passenger onboard Saturday’s Los Angeles – Minneapolis flight tried to open an exit door during descent. He was subdued by other passengers, and then removed by police once on the ground.
Anyone else tried using the Chase Reserve Experience website? As far as I can tell the thing just doesn’t work. Every time I click on an experience it goes to the same unrelated webpage.
And, anyone ever succeeded in getting the tickets they requested from AMEX’s Platinum concierge? They flunked both times I tried (I have given up now) and seemed to be hapless at their jobs.
