Video Shows Eric Adams Cursing Out Passenger After American Airlines Flight—“I’m Not Mayor Anymore” [Roundup]

News and notes from around the interweb:

  • Eric Adams flies American Airlines. He should’ve stuck to Turkish. NSFW.

Former New York City mayor Eric Adams snapped as he was harassed on a Dallas jet bridge on Tuesday, telling a heckler, “Go f*ck yourself” in a video that has since gone viral.

The confrontation, filmed by another passenger and originally posted on Reddit, shows Adams trading barbs with a masked flyer as they disembark a flight from New York to Texas.

  • Delta ordered 30 Boeing 787-10 widebody aircraft with options for 30 more, with deliveries beginning in 2031. They say these will be targeted at high-demand transatlantic and South America flying, plus widebody fleet replacement for older, less fuel-efficient aircraft.

I didn’t give it separate billing because it’s not new news. Regular readers knew that Delta would be ordering the 787-10 because I wrote that this would be the plan back in July. Another win for a JonNYC leak. Delta’s previous Airbus A350 order similarly leaked early.

  • HSBC does love airport jetbridge branding, though.

  1. I expect nothing less from Eric Adams or any politician any more. He tells people to f-off, Trump gave an employee on the production floor at a Ford plant the finger yesterday. Politicians call people “stupid,” “morons,” “retarded” (their word, not mine). And people celebrate this behavior…think it’s good and helpful.

There was a time when we expected politicians to represent the best of America, to conduct themselves with dignity and moral character. To rise above. No more. Now, we applaud them for acting like three years-olds. We celebrate when, rather than rising above the bad behavior of others, they roll around in the dirt.

And we act surprised when child behave like this and when we have what we have in the workforce. It’s all connected to a culture evolution in America that looks very much like what other great civilizations have look like…right before they fell.

  2. I’m no expert, and can only judge from the snippet of video, but it actually might have been an appropriate response to a heckler saying “Please punch me in the face. I would love if you punched me in the face.” And the cursing retort was actually said in an exasperated “super meh” way (great new term BTW) – not all that much of an animated tone to the ex-Hizzoner.

  3. Delta has been trying to take delivery of 787s for 15 years – the original NW order that DL inherited, the new generation order which ultimately went to the A359/339 combo and now this order.

the DL 787 order is the culmination of 3 attempts by Boeing to sell the 787 to DL; this time they succeeded with the help of GE which gave DL overhaul rights for the GEnx engines.

Jon didn’t break anything about even the latest 787 order- all of it has been discussed on other sites for years. Anyone only gets credit for providing information that is truly not available from any other sources. Rarely does Jon do that other than providing internal documents – which he has been much less able or willing to do of late.

  4. In all of recorded history, has anyone ever made a banking decision because they saw the HSBC logo on a jet bridge?

In all of recorded history, has anyone ever made a technology decision because they saw a random tech-company ad in an airport? Or these days, on a Super Bowl commercial?

  5. @Tim Dunn — Yeah, what’s up with Jon F, and why is he so fascinated by The Simpson’s ‘Beat Up Martin’, I mean, ‘Eat Up Martha’ bit? How come Jon hides on X instead of going-to-town here and the other various blogs? Just asking questions…

  6. @Denver Refugee seems kind of obvious to be that businesses invest in brand awareness activities that they have determined yield an ROI, be it increased sales or just overall awareness. Does HSBCs logo on a jet bridge drive banking decisions? The research says, yes. Kind of like how watching political commentary masked as news influences the voting decisions of many people.

  7. @Denver Refugee — Amex has their logo on a lot of jet bridges at JFK T4 (at least). I like Amex, so, I donno, it kinda makes me wanna give them more money whenever I see it… LOL.

  8. Eric Adams is no longer mayor. He’s a private citizen. While his response was a bit juvenile why is someone complaining to him like he’s still the mayor? Moreover, when the few times I see a politician out in public in an unofficial capacity I leave them alone, like I would want to be. Back in the old USAir LGA/DCA shuttle days when it was all coach seating I saw numerous politicians onboard. I would have never thought to approach any of them.

But that’s our narcissistic society today.
