News and notes from around the interweb:
- United makes basic economy tickets flexible again there’s just too much uncertainty again and they want customers to feel confident pulling the trigger on ticket purchases. They’re following Delta’s lead here.
- American Airlines hiring for a flight attendant training class
- The Rise and Fall Of London Southend Airport
- Flight attendant union sends blistering response to Spirit’s request for airport volunteers amid cancellation chaos
Spirit “has left you and your fellow flight attendants stranded in airports with their angry passengers for hours and even days on end,” Davison wrote in an email obtained by Insider. “The company that wants you to sit on hold for hours on end, surpassing legal duty periods, and jeopardizing rest periods, invading on your days off without remorse. Now they want a favor?”
“Why get abused for free when you can get paid for it?” Davison wrote.
- Two mainland travelers arrested for faking their vaccine cards which are used to avoid quarantine on arrival.
My first thought was, who refuses to get the vaccine but claims to have gotten it? (Usually anti-vaxxers are quite vocal about it!) My second thought was, ‘how on earth could they tell a vaccine card was faked?’ It turns out the perps were ratted out:
Two visitors from the mainland were arrested Sunday at Honolulu's airport for violating an Emergency Proclamation by falsifying vaccination cards to travel to Hawaiʻi. Investigators from the AG's office made the arrests after following up on a tip from a community member.

I guess AA is next in line to allow Y- flexibility again.
Do we give them one day or two before they make the announcement?
The person probably couldn’t keep their mouths shut!
Throw the forgers in prison. It’s a crime which could have life and death implications. Not many people want to commit crimes, even if they may be reluctant to get vaccinated. Make it a requirement for travel, and most would be travelers will get vaccinated. Society has gone out of its way to make it convenient to be unvaccinated for too long.
More of the vaccine cards are linked to government databases. Colorado has a number you can text to get an electronic version of it, complete with lot numbers, dates administered and scannable code. Will become more difficult for anyone to forge and easier for companies and governments to verify. Scammers beware…
Glad those antivax redneck MAGA types are being taught a lesson by the Hawaiians!
Why pay good money for a fake vaccination card that is illegal when you can get a valid one – along with actual protection – for free by getting jabbed?
@UA-NYC
follow the link, really don’t seem to be redneck/MAGA types:
Norbert Chung and Trevor Chung were arrested Sunday.
Watch out for United’s redeposit charge. Cost me $350 to get back my reward miles because I cancelled the flights within the last 30 days, So much for United’s NO CHANGE FEES-A REAL COVID RIP OFF. Allan
