Mark Your Calendar for November 9: Live Online Chat with Hyatt Gold Passport

Jeff Zidell, Vice President of Hyatt for the Gold Passport program, will hold a live chat on Milepoint on November 9.

You can sign up for an email reminder, and you can also submit questions in advance if you’d like. You’ll also be able to see the questions that others are asking.

American Airlines kicked off the first chat, and Maya Leibman (President of AAdvantage) went back and answered questions that didn’t make it into the live chat. At the end of last night’s live chat with Jonathan Clarkson of Southwest Rapid Rewards there was a similar commitment to do the same. So getting your questions in usually means getting them answered.

I can guess that there will be plenty of questions in the Hyatt chat about promotions — Faster Free Nights (stay twice, get a free night at any Hyatt in the world) has been a staple of the program for years but didn’t reapper in 2011, “G bonuses” were property-specific bonuses that went away after the first quarter, ostensibly because they didn’t post reliably and took too much manual intervention (raising cost to deliver the benefit, and frustrating members rather than generating loyalty) but we haven’t yet seen a promised replacement yet.

Me, I’m interested in what Hyatt is going to do next? They’ve been innovating fairly nicely over the past two and a half years, they were the first major chain to introduce free internet for elites and they did it for all elite members not just top tier. They introduced confirmed suite upgrades, something that other major programs do not have, and I like this benefit much more than hoping for an upgrade at the checkin desk. They’ve introduced a co-branded credit card and then added an annual free night to the credit card. They’ve clarified and improved late checkout benefits for elites (an area that they had been highly inconsistent in at best).

The questions I’ve pre-submitted can be found here.

Jeff Z. is one of the most earnest people I’ve met in all of loyalty, so I’m really looking forward to the chat, since I don’t expect a lot of P.R. spin. He won’t likely reveal everything that’s in the hopper, but I always find great value in talking with him, this chat should be excellent. I also have a feeling that other hotel loyalty program execs will be logging into the chat anonymously for precisely this reason, c’mon, you know who you are (and so do I! 🙂 ).

  1. I hate to beat a dead horse, but you were there at the exec summit when Jeff Z said they would replace the G bonuses with something better, right?

I haven’t seen it yet, have you? And I was hoping he would announce something at SMD3, but nothing there either.

I also wanted to ask about c&p awards. I will post something in the questions thread I guess.
