I love Spirit Airlines, I really do. I mean, I don’t want to actually fly them but I’m glad they exist. They charge for water. They’ve charged extra for online booking. So you save money by buying your tickets at the airport but checking in online. (This makes no sense!) They charge for oversized carryons. And they have the greatest ads ever. And they hate their customers.
Still, since some folks will take free miles wherever they come, via Mileage Saver I’m passing along 5000 free Spirit Airlines miles for Hertz #1 Gold members (err.. Gold Plus Rewards member).
Gary, with offers like this it would be useful to know if the programme lets you exchange them via points.com. Which, in the case of Spirit, seems to be no. I can give this one a miss then!
So what are the miles good for?
Donate to charity!,!!
@Raffles if this were transferrable via Points.com I’d have done it myself and said so!! 🙂
@Gary
Fiesty!:)
I fly Spirit often and think they are great for the frugal traveler. The airline attendants are often so friendly we sit in the back just to talk to them. 5000 miles will get you a free round-trip flight if you stay within your zone and go at off-peak times. We’ve redeemed 5,000 miles for example for a free RT flight from Atlantic City to Orlando. I jump on every free mile deal I can get from them since Atlantic City is only 1.5 hours from me, only 45 minutes further than Philly. We’ve also had good experiences by email with customer service. My husband wrote to them once to commend them on some great service their gate agents gave us during hurricane delays, and they gave us 5,000 miles free without even asking just based on his email! Spirit really is under-rated in my opinion.
I didn’t know Spirit Airlines’ PR team posted on VFTW. How nice to have you guys aboard. Too bad everything I’ve heard from actual passengers makes you sound like the trip from hell.
The Hertz #1 Club Gold status that is a benefit of the American Express Platinum card is eligible for this benefit, right?
@Bryce sure, no worries
Ick
Grateful to make a good living and not ride a flying bus with no amenities
Send this brand over to Europe and see if it can compete with premium carrier Ryan Scare
Gary – there’s hope for you yet:

Thanks for the tip. Never flew Spirit and just created my account with them.
Love the way they show up at Award Wallet status “somedoby”… LOL
OPS… “somebody”… hehehe
Dax, I am an actual passenger, and I happen to like them – why don’t you try respecting differences of opinion instead of making it sound like Spirit is doing something deceitful?
