Hyatt sent out a marketing email to some Diamond members yesterday pitching them on their co-branded Chase credit card. Only they got one important detail wrong. The card is supposed to come with first-tier Platinum status. The marketing email offered Diamond status for as long as you remain a cardholder Not bad for a $75 annual fee!
The terms and conditions, not just the marketing copy, were quite clear about Diamond status.
Nonetheless, it was too good to be true and a mistake, as Hyatt posted to Milepoint.
We’d like to apologize for an erroneous email sent yesterday to some Diamond members regarding the Hyatt Credit Card. This email had a statement that the Hyatt Credit Card includes Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond status, which was incorrect. The Hyatt Credit Card includes Platinum status.
All of us here at Hyatt Gold Passport are disappointed that we sent a communication that was not correct, and we are taking the necessary steps to make sure that this does not happen again.
We hold our elite membership in high esteem, and we know our Diamond members are proud of their tier achievement. Please accept our sincere apologies, and if you have any questions, you may call our Diamond Customer Service line at 1-800-544-9288 or email goldpassport@hyatt.com.
I’m told that a followup email is going to out to those who received the offer. I’ve asked Hyatt for clarification, though, as to whether they’ll honor the promised Diamond status for anyone that may have already applied having been tempted by the offer.

Well, I hope Hyatt honors this but I am not going to sue if they don’t 🙂
Hmmm, they make a mistake and retract it. I make a mistake, sorry I’m SOL…………
