The next Frequent Traveler University event is now a reality!
It will be held in Seattle, starting the evening of Friday April 25th and running through the afternoon of Sunday, April 27th.
- Tickets are on sale
- Hotel is available for booking
- Here’s where to discuss the event with fellow attendees
I’m just starting to put together the program, but you’ll be able to meet and hear from folks like Ben from One Mile at a Time, Greg from Frequent Miler, and Summer from Mommy Points.
I’ll be sharing the rest of the speakers and schedule in the weeks and months to come.
April’s event outside Washington, DC was the largest gathering of frequent flyers in history, with well over 600 people in attendance. It sold out months in advance. That actually seemed too big, and the September event in Tampa felt more ‘right’ — better able to get to know people, build relationships, share tips with other attendees — at just over 400.
- USA Today’s Ben Mutzabaugh, Seth Miller of Wandering Aramean, Chris Lopinto of Expert Flyer, and Alexi Vereschaga from Award Wallet
- Mommy Points and Pizza in Motion offering an introductory session on miles and points
So the Seattle event — since our goal is about quality of interaction, learning, and relationship-building — will be capped at 400 attendees.
I’m looking forward to being back on the West Coast, and to bringing Frequent Traveler University to a new city!
Here are some recaps of past events:
- Million Mile Secrets on Rapid Travel Chai‘s April presentation
- Slides from that presentation along with those from the talk’s Q&A on North Korea travel.
- Lucky on the cruel practical joke he played on everyone at the start of that conference.
- Points Summary has lots of photos.
- Mommy Points offers her 10 lessons from FTU.
- Slides from The Points Guy‘s Delta tips and tricks
As Hack My Trip wrote, “Frequent Traveler University is where you want to be if you’re a fanatic about miles and points!”

The one FTU is in a city I can easily attend, I am off in Dubai during those dates 🙁
In!
Not to get anyone in trouble, but where are Ed’s eyes in that picture? 😉
Very interested to see the program once it’s finalized. Hopefully we won’t have the same bloggers covering the same topics from past events (really, most presenters fall under this, but especially Belkin and his “loyalty is dead” angle).
I will try and make it – I would enjoy participating in my first one.
That’s a heck of a picture.
I think Ed was actually taking a cat nap while I was blabbering on, and I clearly was caught with a very photogenic expression. Ha!
It’s really too bad I can’t purchase through a portal…
Site for tickets will not accept Canadian address/payment. Very frustrating. Guess this is a non-starter for now.
@Jennifer – will look into that!
never been to this, registered — sounds like fun. Have been active on Milepoint primarily (mht_flyer) and flyertalk, ffocus.
Looking forward….
Gary, the FTU website http://ftuniversity.com/ that is the first link in this post has not been updated to reflect the Seattle event. It’s still all about Tampa.
Probably want to get that site updated before you promote the link further! 🙂
I am NOT attempting to start something here…but the first thing that jumped out at me when reading this is that while all my “usual Miles and Points bloggers” are NOT fans of Marriott, where is the FTU being held in Seattle? LOL Good news for me–I am a Marriott fan… Stayed in this hotel twice in August on a Mileage Run to HKG. Very convenient to the airport.
@Denise – we’ve had FTU at 3 Sheratons, a Hyatt, a Hilton, gotta mix this stuff up!
Any news/change re ticket purchase from Canada?
@Jennifer I *will* check but hadn’t gotten there yet. Will make sure it is possible, I know that.
Ticket bought and hotel booked! Will the special Marriott rate count as a qualifying stay for the Spring Megabonus promotion?
When we doing this thing in Vegas?
