Turkish offers some cheap awards for flights on Turkish aircraft, they do add fuel surcharges to awards, and as I’ve written before their status is easy to earn and maintain (and they still offer status matches up to their Star Alliance Gold level).

I recently flew TK from Kilimanjaro to IST and then from IST to JFK. The flight from JRO to IST was delayed due to weather and I missed all my connections. It was a nightmare trying to get TK to get me flights to the US. Their customer service on the ground is horrendous. I would not fly them again.
I can’t log in to my account, are others having the same problem?
I’m going to sign up for a Turkish account even though I will probably never use it. BUT, I thought the same about the Iberia account that I signed up for on a promotion and because I had miles in my account I was able to get in on the 50k RT biz award to Europe (through transfer partners). A lot of programs require miles in your account to take advantage of special promotions these days, just never know when it might come in handy. Thanks for posting.
Ataturk’s TCKN number is 10000000146 according to wikipedia and just scored me 250 miles.
I had the same ideas as Trenchc after checking Wikipedia- worked fine for me as well and the miles posted immediately…
Their newly expanded IST lounge is probably the best business lounge in all Europe. On the other hand customer service on the ground is indeed a nightmare. Best is to travel without checked luggage (I arrived in IST twice and they managed to loose all my checked baggage on both occasions!) and always pray their are no problems. If their is a problem and you don’t speak Turkish you’re lost!
Thanks for the TCKN tip folks! I can also vouch for the HORRENDOUS ground service. Inflight food service was great though compared to US airlines.
Just scored 1000 free miles. Thanks!
