News and notes from around the interweb:
- Simon Mall gift cards – that come with PINs and can be used to buy money orders – can now be purchased online for ~ $5 per $500 all-in.
- An important reminder for avoiding tourist scams: you’re not that good looking and irresistible (and expensive watches just make you a target, not an amazing wooer of women). That rolex will just get stolen. (HT: Alan H.)
- Pretty cool new DC public transit app
- Thai Airways is getting a bailout.
- What the front desk is saying when they talk about you. Hint: It’s all quite necessary and business-appropriate. (HT: Alan H.)
- 500 Virgin America Elevate points for 99 cents

It’s interesting that you save $1.00 in fees by ordering the Simon Mall Visa card through Giftcardmall rather than ordering the Visa card directly from Giftcardmall. The downside though is that you can only get $497 on the card instead of $500. I’m not sure which I would rather do.
Normally I dismiss “You’ll never guess…” headlines as bad clickbait, but in this case I think it’s appropriate.
Actually once I saw this happened at the Encore, I knew exactly where the Rolexes would be found. Hope this comment is not a spoiler for anyone…but I assume we’re all adults here.
I don’t think I would ever wear the watch again. There is not enough disinfectant in the world.
I am a huge fan of Rolex’s, and actually owning three of my own so far. And I guard them with my life. Which this story further confirms why you should always keep your eyes on such valuable items, what ever they may be!
