• The President of the American Airlines flight attendants union resigned. I assume this is because after her union rejected a better contract than flight attendants would get in binding arbitration a year ago, she wasn’t going to run for re-election. (Since her team negotiated and endorsed the rejected deal.) After her cynical criticism of Nicole Kidman for representing Etihad, good riddance. Restricting Gulf carrier access to US markets would raise the price for women (and others) traveling to the US from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and elsehwere.

• Alaska Airlines lost its CEO’s bag when he flew to DC (HT: Brian Sumers) Do you think he chose the miles or the discount on his next flight as compensation?

• US Airways flight 550, a redeye from Phoenix to Boston, was diverted to Syracuse when the pilot passed away inflight. My thoughts are with the pilot’s family, and my respect to the co-pilot for handling of the situation.

  

• Branding details for Solaz, the new Starwood Luxury Collection property in Los Cabos scheduled to open in mid-2017. (HT: Andreas R.) I wonder if this was more or less expensive than $1.5 million new logo.
