While 2500 points aren’t worth a ton (~ $10), the offer stacks with their end of year bonus of double or triple points. (You have to register for that one as well.)
Hilton HHonors is offering triple points on weekends and double points during the week. (Registration required.) Through the end of the year Hilton is giving double points Monday through Thursday nights and triple points Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights.

2,500 HHonors points would be like earning about 800 Hyatt GP points or 400 starpoints… It is correct that the true value of this offer is that it is stackable with some of the other on going HHonors promos, and, as usual, one will earn these bonus points even on award stays…
2500 point is worth about $5 so not even worth looking at it.

You do better paying cash/card for hilton rooms than using points.
Very few properties have decent value but as mentioned, it costs 40K to 60k points a night for room costing up to $129.
@jim — With that comment you have publicly displayed your ignorance. Hilton offers one of the best-value, if not the best-value redemptions for low end properties and is highly competitive at high end…really 😉
@jim: There is not an established correlation between the redemption value for points at a Hilton-branded property and the room rate, so your examples are not universal across the board.
The examples you cite of redemption values compared to point usage are perfect examples of poor usage of HHonors points, but these examples alone are not sufficient to say that the points are not ever a good value and should not be pursued.
There are enough instances of hotels where your options are $150 or $200 a night for a room, or 20,000 points for the same room, where the decision to use points becomes a better proposition. Some of the better deals come with the cash+points rate – a good example I can think of is the Hampton Inn in Freeport, Illinois, where the cash+points rate of $35 plus 4,000 points means that these few points save about $60 compared to the AAA or MVP rates for the same room (which push closer to $100/night).
Simply put, if you are finding that the best use of HHonors points equates to a value of two-tenths of a cent per point (which is the value you have placed on them with your statement), then you frankly aren’t trying very hard.
Also, how silly is the bloggers’ constant use of their loyalty point “valuations” [which is are actually estimates of the REDEMPTION “value”] to estimate their hard cash value? This silly:
How much would one have to spend at a Hilton property to earn 2,500? $250 for a GM. One would have to spend the same amount on the Citi Reserve at a Hilton property to earn 2,500 HH points (~$200 on the AMEX Surpass). In fact, one would have to spend even more on other non-hotel purchases with these co-branded card to earn 2,500 HH points! The beauty of getting the bonus points through this offer is that one does not even have to spend any additional money to earn them. They are on top of any money that you would spend, anyway (they would also be on top of bonus points earned for paying one’s folio with a co-brand card, as well as points from the ongoing “double/triple” bonus promo). It is not at all a cliche that HH points are easy to earn. That is why just looking at and then bitching about the large NUMERICAL costs of Hilton awards in HH points, which are very easy to earn, is also very silly…
If you spent $5 or $10 at any Hilton property (e.g. on incidentals), all you’d get would be 50 or 100 HH points, not 2,500 points!
From my perspective, since I earn most of my HH points through revenue stays, the points for this offer are worth $250 that I won’t have to spend!

For those — that’s you @jim — who are sneezing at this offer, consider the following. I have a revenue stay coming up at the Drake in Chicago right after Thanksgiving, and then from December 18th to 31st I will have award stays at Hilton Shanghai, Waldorf=Astoria Beijing and Conrad Koh Samui, all of which will earn the 2,500 bonus points because each stay is more than 2 nights, and award stays are eligible to earn points on most HH promos. Total: 10K HH points (~3.3K Hyatt GP points) without spending a single additional $, but enough points for a 2-night award stay at the lowest category Hilton hotels. However, I will just keep the points in the bank toward redeeming for a higher cat property…
@DCS: Before you go throwing stones at others, it should be noted that three of your four stays won’t earn the bonus. The terms of the offer (as well as Gary’s post itself) are quite clear that the bonus applies to stays at Hilton-branded hotels in the US only.
