10% Bonus on Marriott Gift Cards

Through December 31, Marriott is offering a 10% bonus on gift cards with promo code MMF. They’ll add 10% to the amount you purchase.

Now, this isn’t enough of a bonus to send me off on a spending spree. But for those who would consider Marriott gift cards anything, it’s worthwhile. It’s marketed to Marriott “associates, franchisees, owners and their friends and family” but will work for anyone.

  1. Hi, Gary,

I wonder will you earn any MR points from buying gift card with this promotion, when I put in promotion code

“This offer is not valid with any other offer, and Associates are not eligible for Marriott Rewards Points.”

  2. You will get points on buying the GC’s in whatever currency your credit card offers. You don’t earn Marriott points *for the purchase of gift cards*.

But you WILL earn poins on the rooms for which you make payment with the gift cards.

  3. sorry, I forgot to mention MR currently have a promotion, you will earn 10 points per dollar for gift card purchase

  4. Also, if you use a Marriott-branded card from Chase to make the purchase, you will earn the standard MR points you earn for any other Marriott purchase.

Bottom line is that if you plan to spend with Marriott in the next year, this is a guaranteed 10% off that you can stack on top of everything else.

  5. @Troy – I just noticed that promo, too. If you value MR points at over 1 cent per point, then the standard offer makes more sense than this one. (For example, 10 points per dollar that you value at, say 15 cents, is more appealing than 10%, or 10 cents.)

  6. First of all, this information is incorrect. The promo says that you get 10% points NOT 10 percent credit. Also, if you read the details, it says you cannot get points for for booking a stay with your card. Did you even read this?

  7. edit: you cannot get points for booking a stay with your gift card. Credit cards are another story. This is really a no-deal, unless you are purchasing this for someone else.
