Games Hotels Play to Skimp on Customers
A reader shared a bizarre email exchange with the general manager of a full service upscale Marriott hotel. Being shorted points on $15 of room rate per night was enough to push him to Hilton.
How Loyalty Programs Choose Metrics So Nothing is Ever a Failure
Starbucks was asked about devaluing their program on their earnings call and they claimed customers don’t mind because fewer customers picked up the phone to call and complain than they had anticipated and fewer customers are complaining about this devaluation than their 2016 devaluation.
Two Passengers Show Us That Love is in the Air
Love is a wonderful thing, and the excitement of a new and budding relationship is a feeling few people can match with their other experiences. Still, my recommendation would be for a discrete trip to the lav if you must and not to do this inflight (or during the boarding process).

Hilton’s New Double Points Promo Starts May 6th With a Kicker
Hilton’s current promotion, great for short stays ends May 5. Not missing a beat their new promotion runs May 6 – September 8. Hilton is continuing the theme of their most common bonus, double points, but they aren’t interested in bonusing only occasional guests. They’re only offering double points starting with your second stay during the promotion period.
Doubling down, as it were, on the focus on bonusing the most frequent guests they’re adding a component to double points…
