50% Rebate On Air Canada Award Tickets

Air Canada Aeroplan is offerings a 50% rebate on redemptions of Canadian domestic flights and between the U.S. and Canada booked by July 1 for travel between July 1 and October 15, 2020.

Even though the ‘border closure’ has been extended, that actually doesn’t prevent Canadians from flying to the U.S. and of course restrictions on travel could be lifted come late July or beyond. You may think booking an award ticket to Canada now is speculative but that’s fine because Aeroplan rewards are cancellable free through August 31.

Getting back in the air follows the Aeroplan ‘stay at home’ series of promotions, including the best-ever mileage sale starting at just 1 cent apiece, where members generated a total of 5.5 billion miles and also a large number of new elite status memberships.

I’m not usually a fan of short haul redemptions, but 50% could make them worthwhile, just compare mileage pricing to cash costs and consider whether you’re saving your Aeroplan miles for other trips. You can also, of course, transfer points instantly into Aeroplan from American Express Membership Rewards

  1. Aeroplan has excellent short-haul redemptions to small airports not served by other airlines, like Newfoundland or the sub/high Arctic.
