Recent news reports have linked an outbreak of E. coli to romaine lettuce harvested from Salinas, California. As a proactive precaution, effective immediately, American Airlines will temporarily suspend the use of all romaine lettuce, chopped or whole, from all locations and substitute an appropriate spring or lettuce mix not containing romaine. Substituations may vary depending on caterer availability. Please consult with your catering representative in regards to the substituted offering.
@ Gary — I have permanently discontinued Romaine. Not worth the risk. I’ve had horrific intestinal infections three times during or immediately following international travel to third world countries. None of the illnesses came from Romaine AFAIK, but it isn’t worth the chance. No airplane coffee or medium rare burgers for me anymore either.
