News and notes from around the interweb:
- How to book a private room inside the Qantas first class lounge
If you’re travelling in Qantas first class, you can reserve a room when the First Lounge Concierge calls the day before your flight to offer a spa booking.
For anybody else, just ask at the reception desk on your arrival at the lounge.
- On May 4, Fairmont will be running a 20% bonus on purchased gift cards from 2pm – 5pm Eastern (HT: The Lounge Lizard)
- Middle managers know what it takes to succeed at a Bill Franke airline? I sincerely hope that (1) this was a horrible mistake, and (2) that the airline has rectified not just this aircraft’s emergency kit but audited the rest of them.
- Hawaiian Airlines plans to start installing StarLink internet next year and offer it for free
- Boeing close to resuming 787 deliveries, err, being allowed to resume deliveries.
- There’s so much to be said here about travel demand, about how lounges are too small and people spend too much time in them, and about how there’s little point in a busy airport lounge. But I’ll just leave you with:
Noon. @AskAmex lounge in PHX is out of food. Out of glasses. Making drinks in coffee cups. Pathetic. @garyleff @OneMileataTime pic.twitter.com/wuy2AHhGee

Out of food at noon? Somebody didn’t put in an order. I still have nightmares like that. I’m ready to open the food pantry I used to run
(14 years ago!) and I forgot to order the groceries!
I’ve never had any luck with booking those private rooms at the QF F lounge. They usually tell me its only for people flying QF F. Screw anyone else flying on oneworld in F. (denied flying AA F many times). No wonder AA dropped the 77W from that route.
As does BA in the Concorde Room 😉
Qantas does not operate any First CLASS lounges, only First lounges.
