There’s a legit fare sale from Star Alliance member TAP Air Portugal. They’re mostly promoting good coach deals (like Chicago to Copenhagen from $379 roundtrip), but it turns out there are even better business class offers. And the fare deals allow Lisbon stopovers at no extra charge.
The United and Air Canada partner flies rom Boston; Chicago O’Hare; Miami; New York JFK; Newark; San Francisco; and Washington Dulles. With their flights to Lisbon you can connect beyond to most of Europe.
Here are some sample deals:
- Ponta Delgada (Azores) from $1629 roundtrip in business class
- Lisbon, Porto, Faro from $1699 roundtrip in business class
- Praia (Cape Verde) from $1699 roundtrip in business class
- Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Berlin from $1899 roundtrip in business class
- Geneva, Zurich from $1999 roundtrip in business class
Here’s an example of Boston – Lisbon roundtrip:
You’ll see it’s a $50 fare each way (for business class!) plus taxes and a big fuel surcharge.
Now here’s an example of Amsterdam pricing out at $1901 roundtrip.
Key details of fare basis JF0EXIOA:
- Minimum stay until the Saturday after arrival or 5 days after arrival
- Purchase tickets by January 18, but there’s no guarantee availability will last until then
- Valid for travel January 11 – May 31, with March 21 – April 8 blacked out
- $250 fee for refunds, $300 fee for changes (to then-current fare)
TAP business class J fares should earn 200% of flown miles with Air Canada Aeroplan, 125% of flown miles when credited to United MileagePlus.
Where is the “luxury”?
On an Airbus A319, A320 or A321neo.?
Flying TAP is like flying Spirit’s Big Front Seats. While better than coach, it does not match the rest of the J or F competion from the other global carriers.
YQ dumping possibilities? May be worth gaming.
@Brian W – Uh, no, TAP’s narrowbody TATL lie-flat J product is basically the same as B6 Mint. I’d definitely take it over BA J.
