Bonza, the Australia sibling to Canadian ultra-low cost airline Flair, is being forced to cancel flights as their aircraft get repossessed. Reportedly their entire fleet of Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft was seized. The carrier no longer appears viable with all flights suspended.
According to Bonza’s CEO,
Bonza has temporarily suspended services due to be operated today, as discussions are currently underway regarding the ongoing viability of the business.
We apologise to our customers who are impacted by this and we’re working as quickly as possible to determine a way forward that ensures there is ongoing competition in the Australian domestic aviation market.
Just last week the airline was forced to deny reports that they’d brought in an outside restructuring advisor but conceded they would have to reduce services.
Flair, like Bonza controlled by 777 Partners, has seen leased planes repossessed. There are also a number of other accusations of impropriety.
Yeah well, having your entire fleet repossessed at once will do that.
Well if you don’t pay your exorcist when the 737 MAX are fixed then naturally the planes gets repossessed.
Missed headline opportunity:
Bedtime for Bonza
If you live in UK, the bigger issue is that 777 Partners is/was weeks away from finalizing the Everton Football Club purchase in the Premier League. Guess that won’t happen now.
Four more MAX jets available in the pool.
Is that UA or AA calling on the phone???
