Matt Gaetz Made Them Fly Spirit Airlines: The Scandal That’s Got Everyone Talking [Roundup]

News and notes from around the interweb:

  • Matt Gaetz, whose nomination as attorney general was withdrawn last month amidst a House ethics committee report that he paid for sex and drugs. The report shows he was making the girls fly Spirit.

  • Greenwashing: “Marriott has a comprehensive set of initiatives and practices in place to drive down operational costs as well as reduce energy use, water consumption and waste.”

See also: “As of November 2024, Marriott has introduced a new policy to eliminate bars of soap in favor of liquid hand wash. This change is part of our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability.”

  • Just no.

  • The Denver airport mess goes beyond just the airpor train and TSA Pena Blvd which runs to the airport is a mess, and the airport doesn’t want to pay to address it. “What used to take 8 minutes to get to I-70, now takes 24 minutes on average…with 30 or longer common.” The airport asked the FAA to pay, but since the road doesn’t serve only the airport they cannot legally do so.

Honestly, flying out of Boulder (BJC) on JSX to Burbank, Dallas Love Field, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Scottsdale, and Taos looks pretty good to be honest.

  • When I write about San Francisco’s decline being a gut punch for the hotel market, driving down business travel and meetings especially, some of you respond ‘but look at crime stats – Chicago is worse!’ and here’s what you’re missing – it’s the places that were key business destinations, where meetings were held, that’s seen the greatest decline.

  1. @Gary: Re: Matt Gaetz. You missed the crucial question. The Senate just released a salacious report on a private citizen. With the issues facing Congress, why would they do this? Payback. Some Republicans wanted to stick it to Matt Gaetz. But who?

  2. Matt Gaetz still has a major role to play in the Trump government. I don’t think this sort of report will prevent anything.

  3. @L3 Have you read the full report?

The question isn’t who wanted to stick it to Gaetz, but who didn’t.

The creep should be in jail.

  4. @Captain Freedom: Wrong and irrelevant. They didn’t publish the report on you and all your paedaphilia. Why? No axe to grind.

    Don’t be naive.

  5. @L3, the reason why “they” didn’t publish a report on ole Cap Freedom is because of a lack of:
    1) congressional service
    2) use of prostitutes
    3) scheduled narcotics.

Now I do not judge people for their use of drugs and sex together. It’s a classic combination like peanut butter and chocolate. But Matt Gaetz caused his own problems and if you can’t see that you are blind.

  6. @David R. Miller I’m pretty sure that Hunter Biden would not have been pardoned if he had had sex with a minor. Then again, I understand why that doesn’t bother you… your Dear Leader was one of Jeffrey Epstein’s best clients.

  7. On Gaetz, all I can think of is how ‘great again’ the party of ‘family values’ is. We libs feel so owned. Enjoy our tears.

On Singapore Airlines, I just flew EWR-SIN on Saturday, and they still had the Penhaligon amenity kit. Remember, with SIA, you have to request an amenity kit; they do not distribute them to everyone, and the flight needs to be at least 6 hours to receive one in business class. Not to worry, our flight was a little longer…18.5 hours!

  8. This article is pure bullshit, and nothing but click bait. We live in Denver, fly in and out of DIA regularly and have never encountered what this author describes. Like and international airport there can be glitches from time to time but at DIA they are very rare and typically are cleared up quickly.

  9. …maybe only flight at that time of the day? More convenient flight?
Lets say you want to fly first class , there is only 8 seats available and 23 passengers that want those seats…what happens with the rest? Are we going to make fun of them ? Spirit had the time available abd they will return via Delta Airlines…

  10. The sex doesn’t bother me. 17 years old is well over the age of consent in most countries. She was happy to do it and happy to get paid.

The drugs don’t bother me. Most folks have had some kind of illegal drug at some time in their lives.

But making them fly Spirit. That’s unforgivable.

  11. For the first time in my life I took a Spirit flight of about 50 min duration. Was pleasantly surprised that it was nice and uneventful. Cabin and cockpit crew were good.
Returning on Friday, will see how it goes then.

  12. @martin m-not sure if you live N of DIA but coming in from south on either the toll way or the freeway is a total s$&t show regardless of the day or time of day. I’m a frequent flier and have to add time to my inbound airport commute. Ridiculous amount of houses and apt construction with Pena as the main thoroughfare for them and the airport. So wish this was a click bait article instead of the truth.

  13. Who cares? Why so salacious on this site? Next you will have a story on how Epstein made his victims fly coach? Stay on subject. Maintain a better and higher altitude.

  14. I’m waiting for criminal convictions and the pardons that will follow if it gets to that. I’m not sure that being requested to fly Spirit is even a misdemeanor.

  15. Matt Gaetz is cheap and sleazy like his Lord Trump. Birds of a feather — along with that Jeffrey Epstein creep — not to be trusted around teenage girls (or anyone else).
