A 70 year old Egyptian man was arrested and denied entry to the United States after kicking a Customs dog who found more than 100 pounds of undeclared food in hs bags at Washington Dulles ariport.
He was arrested on Tuesday and pled guilty the next day to misdemeanor harming animals used in law enforcement. The dog was five year old beagle Freddie, who was kicked “so hard that he was lifted off of the ground” according to documents filed with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
A search of the man’s luggage after the dog alerted uncovered 55 pounds of meat, 44 pounds of rice, and 15 pounds of vegetables (eggplant, cucumbers, and bell peppers) along with 2 pounds of corn seeds and one pound of herbs. CBP prohibited their entry into the United States.
The dog was transported to a veterinary emergency room, where vets found contusions to Freddie’s right rib area.
According to the agency,
Being caught deliberately smuggling well over 100 pounds of undeclared and prohibited agriculture products does not give one permission to violently assault a defenseless Customs and Border Protection beagle.
The man was ordered to pay $965 ($840 in restitution plus $125 in fees and fines), received credit for time served on the misdemeanor, and sent out of the country on Thursday.
In the current era it’s especially unwise for a non-citizen to draw extra attention to themselves at U.S. border, let alone anger CBP agents and harm their dogs. The man is lucky to have only been arrested and deported, since there’s no indication he was sent to South Sudan.
Why that charge isn’t a felony is perplexing.
Should be a felony, a couple of years in our jail then prison plane back to Egypt.
While I am not a violent person, I do care for innocent abused animals. The punishment should include kicking his to his deportation location.
Why people bring such things in their luggage is perplexing.
Physical Assault to a member of law enforcement is only a misdemeanor? And the IRS threatened seizing all of my property with a jack-booted swat team over a $650 late payment that they deduced some 3 years after the fact and ultimately was an error in my favor. The laws and enforcement priorities are completely arse-backwards!
Misdemeanor…?
Anyway, good he was sent back right away.
Here comes CAIR and their version of Ben Crump and Al Sharpton.
“In the current era….” You mean, now that criminal activity is actually punished and those who try to game the system are deported?
I hope that his passport and/or visa was noted for “NO ENTRY” from now on. I agree that attacking a canine law enforcement officer should be a felony. Glad the dog wasn’t injured to badly.
@Chris: agreed, should read “under fascism the penalty is death to non-whites”.
He should in jail awaiting trial or in prison if he decided to plead guilty plus he should have faced a felony.
He got away too easy after kicking the dog, There should be additional penalties, I hope when he gets back to his country they arrest him again.
Abhorrent. Poor doggo 🙁
I agree with others — dog or not, the penalty for assaulting a member of law enforcement should be much more stringent.

Stop with the dog being a sworn LEO nonsense. It’s a dog. Its still cruel and should be punished but the dog is NOT a police officer.
You need to do more research, yes, a dog is a police officer, specially trained to do certain functions.
I pretty much agree with most of the prior comments. The guy needs to serve his sentence then be handed off to the ICE goons for deportation. The only thing that puzzles me is why you can’t bring rice into the country.
I would ban him from all US airports. Then what is odd … why bring all that into the country. Meat, rice and veggies are readily available in the USA. Enjoy the waste of money your ticket was fool.
