On a Sunday night Delta Air Lines redeye from Las Vegas to Atlanta, a passenger filmed a cat that made its way up to first class.
On the September 21 flight, a cat got loose in the forward cabin after running away from its owner. A flight attendant picked it up walked it back toward economy.

“…AND STROLLS DOWN… GOES TO FIRST CLASS”
“HER OWNER WAY [back there]”

The cabin pet got out of its carrier after takeoff and made a beeline for first class, presumably because there was still an empty seat and the gate agent hadn’t processed the upgrade list. Video captions are perfect: “…side‑eyeing the economy passengers…” and “Enjoy your pretzels, peasants.”
Of course, if it’s a pet in cabin it must stay in its carrier. If it’s a “service animal” surely the owner needs it to stay with them. But shouldn’t the owner have retrieved it themselves? I suppose technically they might have been intimiated by the seatbelt sign being on, or they just assuemd that ‘the help’ (flight attendants) would do it for them?
But they were showing us all what self-upgrading looks like, and why we should all do our best to escape coach when we can. And it’s following in the footsteps of another cat who escaped to first class on a Dallas – San Francisco United flight.
Passengers saw the cat strolling down the aisle, a flight attendant attempted to catch her, and when she was carried toward coach, she wriggled free and tried to get back up front. As well she should!
That United event is a good reminder that it isn’t always Delta with the pets, even though it seems to be? Like the Delta passenger kicked out of his seat to make room for a dog and my own Delta flight last year that turned around over an unauthorized dog onboard and then let the owner and dog fly anyway.
Delta even once booted a first class passenger to accommodate a plus-sized woman with her emotional support dog and four carry-ons and booted an elite passenger from first class so a dog could take their seat, citing “policy.”
Ahh… let them eat cake, you say?

Chow chow chow
Keep that thing off my vastly premium 5 star airline
When I was the FE on a DC10, we got a call from the back saying there’s a mouse in FC, and a lady was trying to catch it so we didn’t kill it. We needed that darn Cat!
Let’s not get catty with the comments!. Says sneezing allergic me.
According to a search only dogs and in some cases miniature horses can be service animals so cats cannot be service animals.
Anyone see @Mantis on here lately? Hope he’s alright. He mentioned he moved to Asia. Pretty intense typhoon going through Taiwan, Philippines, Hong Kong, Guangdong, and soon to Hanoi. Anyway, might not agree on things, but hope you’re alright, bud. Same goes to anyone else traveling through the region, or dealing with cyclones in other areas (oddly quiet in the Atlantic so far. Bout to heat up!)

That’s gold Gary, gold!
