Flyertalk member 1Ksuperstar reports on a miracle of modern domestic lounge innovation: the Alaska Airlines Amazing Pancake Machine.
It’s self-serve, push button pancake technology, 1Ksuperstar’s photo:
This has to be topped only by the Amazing Beer Machine in the Tokyo United Red Carpet Club:
It’s truly the little things. And when you’re used to domestic lounges in the US, the littlest things really do impress. After all, no Lufthansa beer gardens here in the States!
Is this like the pancake machine at NZ Koru Clubs?
@Erik, I believe that it is
In theory, it’s cool. I geeked out over it and made a couple for my fiancée and I to try. But the actual taste didn’t measure up to the techno-coolness. In a pinch, they’re okay, but I wouldn’t seek them out.
Wow, that would certainly brighten my morning. 🙂
No self-serve, but at least one of the Lufthansa lounges in Frankfurt has staff using a funky pressing machine to make breakfast sandwiches.
My kids love the one in the AKL NZ club. The taste is just so-so, but it is fun to watch!
Went to a party here a few months ago and a big PE guys house, they had a couple of these, they’re like 3K each, can be bought from W&S
I like the self serve waffle machine found in some hotel lobbies.
also one at the Syd AirNZ lounge – fantastic!
The Amazing Beer Machine does not pour the perfect beer though; look at how much head is on that thing!!
There’s one of those beer machines in JAL’s lounge at NRT as well.
Simon, I tried the machine at the JAL lounge at NRT and it was foamy, but my experience in japan is that they often pout their beers with a lot of foam so I suspect they made it that way on purpose.
The pancake machine has hours? Goodness, is it union?
@David – good point, I had not considered that. I’m Australian, hence the shock factor!
The pancake machine’s pancakes are gluten-free! Thumbs up.
