Delta is running a 2 day sale on business class awards between the US and Europe.
The big joke, of course, is that Delta pretends not to have an award chart (they do have one — they price awards based on their chart — they just hide it from members). If there were no ‘regular prices’ they couldn’t have a sale.
Delta runs sales fairly frequently, they discounted Europe in August, Hawaii in September, and Tokyo last month. Domestic coach discounts are common as well.
Delta increased the price of business class saver awards to Europe without notice at the end of August to 70,000 miles each way, 140,000 miles roundtrip. With this sale you can book business class roundtrips at 29% off or 99,000 miles roundtrip.
You must book by November 16 at Delta.com for travel March 1 through June 30. A Saturday night stay is required.

So one should get excited that Delta has a sale for what should be their year round redemption cost if they were fair to do business with?
All it says to me is folks aren’t biting at their extortionate redemption levels
I agree. Since I have some Delta miles I should think about it. But, if you transfer 80K Chase UR to Virgin Atlantic you can fly upper class to LHR for less, in a nice plane with better lounges. I guess if they allowed one way flights at half price I may give it a go.
@Chris Jensen…. what does “fly upper class” mean, the “top .01% class”?
I don’t know what everyone is griping about. I unfortunately used up my Delta miles, but 99k miles for RT in biz is very very good across all programs.
@matt, Upper Class is Virgin Atlantic’s business class. It is good but it is getting tired and need some refreshing. However the Club House at LHR is a very nice lounge, better than the SkyTeam lounge which also is quite good to be honest.
Occasionally DL shows the old 62.5K to EU – as late as a few days ago I looked at MIA-LHR – no VS availability but on DL First and DL One with 1 connection, it was 62.5K. A number of dates have availability.
I would say DL is dynamic pricing so if you need a flight you need to check often. Close in often the prices drop back to the “old chart”.
