AMAZING: $900 Roundtrip Business Class New York – London On Virgin Atlantic

Right now for travel this month and next there are dates available for $900 roundtrip business class tickets, New York JFK – London Heathrow, on Virgin Atlantic. This deal was first spotted by Thrifty Traveler‘s premium airfare deal alert service.

This is an amazing $150 base fare in each direction:

It should be bookable through credit card travel portals using points against the paid fare if you wish. Thrifty Traveler points out that you can also book this at a further discount using an American Express Platinum card through the Amex portal for $856 roundtrip.

Key details of fare basis ZN5X76D2:

  • Outbound travel must occur Tuesday through Friday
  • Return travel must occur Sunday through Thursday
  • Saturday night stay required
  • Tickets must be issued by May 10, but I do not expect this to last that long – in fact it surely won’t last more than a few hours.
  • Fare is non-refundable, but changeable, though changes will re-calculate the fare.

Virgin Atlantic Z fares earn 200% miles (plus elite bonuses) with Delta SkyMiles, as well as 200% of flown miles in their own Flying Club (plus elite bonuses). Other partners earn at a lower rate.

Since we don’t know for certain how Virgin will feel about such a deep discount airfare sale, whether they might get seller’s remorse, I’d wait a few days after buying additional travel or making additional non-refundable plans around the fare. (Thrifty Traveler calls this a mistake fare but I wouldn’t choose to characterize it that way, here’s why mistake fares have become rare.)

In theory an airline refusing to honor a sale like this would have to reimburse any out of pocket costs you incurred but there’s not much history with enforcement of that particular DOT statement so I’d still not test it.

  1. Extremely limited avail as of 7AM ET. It looks like you have to leave Tue, 4/26 or Tue, 5/17. That’s all that I can find. Still an amazing deal though for those that can make it work. Thanks for the heads up!

  2. UPDATE: I found some additional availability at $1,051 if you’re willing to stay 2 weeks or more. For those who are searching try searching a duration of 10-17 nights and a few more options will show up.

  3. This isn’t a sale, it is a massive mistake fare. The economy class YQ of $220 RT is applying instead of the business class YQ of $1300, likely due to some sloppy work by the pricing team. Great for those who purchased, and hopefully it’s honored- but 100% not intentional.

  4. Somehow nabbed May 11-16, gonna finally go see Spurs in their new stadium. Now to get tickets for the two matches…

  5. I still see dates on google but it errors out. Some delta to Amsterdam etc.

@305 flying to Liverpool this weekend to see the reds on Tuesday! Stubhub or look for hospitality packages.

  6. I got 3 weekend runs back to back.
