Amazing Luxury Auction Deals You Can Steal, and Giving Away a 3 Night Suite Stay in New York!

Luxury Travel Diary, a high-end travel blog with great reviews based in the UK, has a bunch of travel auctions — some about to close, others extend into October — and there look to be some real bargains.

They wanted to highlight some of these, and offered to help organize a giveaway of a 3 night hotel stay in a suite at a top property in New York for readers of this blog. Details on how to comment on this post to win below.

I suppose that folks who already know about these auctions won’t like the added attention, because frankly there aren’t enough bidders relative to the value of the offerings and some of these items go too cheap.

Here’s an auction ending in 3 days for a private jet flight between New York and California – a transcon – going for 1000 British pounds as of this writing. There’s no minimum/reserve price, which is ridiculous.

Or 3 nights in St. Barts for 103 pounds as I write this:

There’s page after page of auctions to scroll through, generally nice places that appear to be selling for less than they should.

Prize: a three-night stay in a terrace suite at The William New York – subject to availability with no blackouts.

The property is currently rated 11 out of 189 ‘specialty lodging’ options on TripAdvisor, with 4.5 stars.

The William is a modern extended stay hotel located near Bryant Park in Manhattan. Stay for a month or more and be immersed in a lifestyle localized in culture, yet tailored in service. Thoughtfully crafted for our discerning clientele, The William features thirty-three guest suites that leave no detail unexplored.

These reviews look pretty typical:

To enter: leave a comment on this post with your favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary, or why you would choose to stay at The William over other hotels in New York. You may enter two times if you wish and answer those two questions one time each in separate comments.

Contest deadline and drawing winner: Entries close Friday, October 2 at Noon eastern. I will draw winner with the assistance of random.org.

The fine print: For avoidance of doubt I have no affiliation with either Luxury Travel Diary or The William hotel. I will put the winner in touch with the hotel for booking. They are solely responsible for providing prize to winner. All decisions made in the course of running this giveaway are final and unappealable and your entry signifies your acceptance. The goal here is to make readers aware of a pretty cool auction opportunity, and to give away a suite stay in New York. So please don’t make it hard on me for doing so!

  1. Entry #1 🙂

Uh, my favorite item up for auction would be the private jet flight. Yea, that would work!

  2. 2 nights at the Hyatt Chesapeake simply because it’d be a nice weekend getaway during a busy time for the wife and I. Plus it’s going for 55 pounds

  3. A free stay by Bryant park! That’s the best spot in town! Especially when travelling with our mini schnauzers!

  4. Wow! What an opportunity..a stay in a sought after property rather than a run of the mill, avail inexpensive hotel! Chance to see how the others live!

  5. I would love to win that three night hotel prize raffle giveaway.

I wonder for the flights why they did the auction? Was it to fund a cause?

  6. I’d stay at The William because of the blue staircase. It casts an intriguing and somewhat spooky glow.

  7. Definitely would pick the 3 night trip to St. Barts….what a value and look what its going for with 2 days left. Thanks for the tip! Oh and seriously…..October 2nd is my birthday!!!!

  8. Would not mind spending some time at the The William, only because I’m usually in lesser hotels……

  9. My favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary: 2-nights at the Shawnee Inn. I especially like the idea of luxury “camping.” Yes, that might work for my girlfriend.

  10. Why I would choose to stay at The William over other hotels in New York: of course, at twice the price (if I win), it’s still a bargain. But I love the NYC Library main branch just two blocks away, and centrally located for everything midtown. And it would be a good chance to get out of my home (10 minutes away by subway) while I have some painting done.

  11. My favorite item up for auction is definitely the private jet flight from NY to CA! What an amazing experience that would be!

  12. One of my favorite items up for auction is: https://www.luxurytraveldiary.com/auction/?ult_auc_id=15245

It is literally impossible to find quality, affordable hotels in the Hamptons. If the final price of the auction ends anywhere near the price it is now, it’ll be the bargain of a century.

I’d stay at The William over other hotels in NYC because of it’s proximity to all my favorite places! Plus, the suites are significantly nicer than the typical hotel rooms that are available in the same neighborhood.

  13. One of my favorite items up for auction is: https://www.luxurytraveldiary.com/auction/?ult_auc_id=15212

Maine is one of my all-time favorite vacation destinations. The state itself is relatively small and Camden is situated close enough to my favorite towns to visit that this hotel option is pretty hard to beat!

I’d stay at The William over other hotels in NYC because of it’s proximity to all my favorite places! Plus, the suites are significantly nicer than the typical hotel rooms that are available in the same neighborhood.

  14. Can I choose two? I’m liking the transcon jet flight as well as the 5 nightsat the John F in Berlin.

  15. I’d like to stay at the William since I rarely stay at boutique hotels, the location is great, and winning it would give me a reason to visit my home town!

  16. I like the St Barts hotel opportunity up on the website – wish they had more US properties though! Thanks for the great blog post.

  17. I like the William’s boutique quality – under 40 rooms means more dedicated service and hopefully a better stay. Thanks for the opportunity!

  18. I like the private jet (need to get flights from east coast to west coast to connect with Virgin Australia for upcoming anniversary trip anyway), but I wanted to be a bit more inventive, so, I’ve got: 2 NIGHTS AT SUMMERFIELDS ROSE RETREAT, SOUTH AFRICA — which looks like it’d be fun!

  19. I love NYC and a stay at the William would give me an excuse to go there, staying in a super location too!

  20. Would kill for 2 Nights at Villa La Tosca 5-Star Villa Hotel in France — have been trying to go to Bordeaux forever.

  21. Every time my friend and I are in NYC, we visit Bryant Park. It is our favorite spot in the city. Winning a stay at The William would be just perfect for how we travel.

  22. I’ve never overnighted in NYC but I’ve traveled many times internationally out of JFK, so I would love to stay at The William and experience the beauty of hotel during my first trip to NYC.

  23. These items list outrageous amounts as the value of the item expressed by the donor. So can a bid winner expect a 1099 reporting these values so that the donors can deduct these outrageous amounts?

  24. The William looks great — 3 nights in NYC is a no-brainer.

I stayed a few nights at Le Sereno about 4 years ago — it’s a lovely discrete property designed by Christian Liaigre. The bid of 103 pounds would barely check you in to the island’s cheapest hotel for one night in low season on this pricey island — worth checking in to.

  25. I would choose the Bellmere on Richards, Queensland because Australia is where our 34th anniversary vacation cruise is ending in 2016. Just look at the kangaroos wandering the grounds; if that’s not prototypical Australia, I don’t know what would be!

  26. I’d choose to stay at The William for two (2) reasons: the Nespresso coffee/tea machines in each room and the rooftop garden!

  27. The Andaz on 5th Ave in NYC caught my eye, I’ll be bidding on that! Are there other auction sites like this? I am now on their mailing list and expect that I will be a heavy user (assuming I can get my Paypal account reactivated).

  28. The William looks outstanding and it is nicer than many hotels in NY! I would love to stay there!

  29. I would like to stay at the Williams as it would be far more spacious than the hotels I usually stay in.

  30. My favorite item for auction would be the transcontinental flight between NY and California as I’ve never flown on a private jet before.

  31. Staying at the William would make for a very romantic weekend for my wife and I…certainly better than a chain hotel.

  32. The William is well located and the general options in NYC are good location or decent size room. The William gives you both.

  33. Almost forgot. I would stay at the William over other hotels in NYC because I wouldn’t be bothered about whether I will get an upgrade or not! It’s nice to not worry about the room you will get.

  34. The amenities at the William including the kitchen and laundry facilities are a plus when traveling with family.

  35. The Hyatt in Chesapeake bay looks amazing, I may actually bid on that! I love the Chesapeake bay and have heard rave reviews about this hotel!

  36. Buenos Aires is on my bucket list and I’m a Hyatt enthusiast, so the auction for the 2 Night Weekend Stay At Park Hyatt Buenos Aires would be my pick!

  37. The location for The William is pretty great for Manhattan–near Bryant Park, shopping on Fifth Avenue, and good eats at Koreatown!

  38. I would to stay the 2 nights at the Leone Blu, Florence, Italy. Florence is on the list for my next trip to Europe.

  39. The William looks much nicer than the NYC hotels we usually stay in when visiting our son.

  40. The William would be great for a trip I have planned to NYC to take my niece to see her first Broadway play for her 16th birthday. I would be better than other hotels to stay there as it has a great location, a kitchen to help out as my niece has some dietary restrictions and it would just make her birthday extra special to stay in a cool modern hotel on her first trip to NYC.

  41. I frequently visit NYC and am always looking for different places to stay. The William New York has a great location and looks great!

  42. The 3 nights in Saint batts sounds like a dream for the winter NYC doldrums. I would take the prize for The Williams and have a stay cation for my fiancées bday coming up!

  43. The William NY has really stylish decor, definitely makes me want to stay there over traditional generic-looking hotels.

  44. Thank you for the info on Luxury Travel Diary. Had heard of them, looked once and gave up, as not for me. But the auction is kind of unbelievable. I think I like the 2 nights at Andaz 5th Ave.

  45. I would stay at the Williams so I would have a new property to evaluate for visiting friends and family.

  46. Of the items in the auction, the stay at the Andaz is probably what I am most likely to use… so I guess that’s best!

  47. The 2-night weekend stay at the Park Hyatt in Buenos Aires. Been dying to go to BA (the Paris of South America), and Park Hyatt’s are incredible properties!

  48. Hard to beat a private jet flight, as auction items go. Would love the NYC suite because its the hardest hotel market I’m the USA to find good value in.

  49. I’d stay at the William because of the cool looking retro furniture. (Also wife’s birthday coming up)

  50. It has got to be the Private Jet. I realize that first is always the best way to go, but tell me what domestic carrier is that good. I’ve flown first on both AA and Delta, and I fly Hawaiian all the time, but there is NO comparison to the International airlines. This would be the ultimate! It’s on the top of my bucket list. Right now it’s 1500 pounds. I am seriously thinking of bidding. The plane flies 8 passengers, at this rate its cheaper than flying coach 🙂

  51. The William looks like it’s in a fantastic location, centrally located to lots of different spots in Manhattan.

  52. As for the auctions, the private jet does sound fantastic! But I’d probably bid on something cheaper like the Andaz 5th Avenue.

  53. I would love to stay at the hotel since it’s just a stone’s throw from Broadway and Madison Square Garden. A lot of entertaining night can be had so close to the hotel.

  54. I would save my favorite auction item is the 5 Nights At John F In Berlin, I stayed there before and it was an amazing place to stay while on vacation.

  55. As a scholar, I’d choose the William for its convenience to the greatest library in the world–The New York Public Library!

  56. I’d stay at the William because it’s close to Bryant park which means it’s right in the middle of everything.

  57. I’m looking for any good deal in NYC, so the auction for the 2-night Andaz stay looks great.

  58. I love the 7 days in Scotland!

I would love to make the trip there someday, and taste the scotch firsthand.

  59. The two nights at “instants d’Absolu” Ecolodge & Spa in Chavagnac/Auvergne, France, looks tempting, may just have to bid …

  60. I’d stay at the William because of its chic retro look… and I’d love to find out if that couch in the picture is comfortable!

  61. The most interesting item up for auction, of course, is the private jet flight at a reasonable price!

  62. I love the 2 nights at ‘Rue Cler Bijou’ Parisian apartment. I’ve been wanting to take my little daughter to Paris since she’s obsessed with Madeline and the Eiffel Tower. Great deal!

  63. The William NYC hotel is amazing. Not just for the location but for the room colors and details. I feel that as an entrepreneur I would be very inspired here and that’s why I would pick this hotel over others in NY.

  64. The private jet from NY-CA is definitely my favorite item! I am going to wait to buy tickets to SFO until the auction ends.

  65. The private jet flight between New York and California is my favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary.

  66. Gary, why do the vast majority of these comments all sound like they’re coming from one person connected to the hotel or auction site? Surely from all the comments you read, you recognize a strange pattern in the replies also.

  67. I’d choose The William over other hotels in New York for its cool and hip design touches as well as its location.

  68. I’ve bid on a couple of things before and won one – a week at an apartment hotel in London at a pretty good price, although not quite the steal I’ve seen on some items.

  69. I’d choose 2 nights at the Andaz Shanghai on Luxury Travel Diary since I am going to China next summer – I have stayed at a lot of Andaz properties and I love the quirky luxury.

  70. I like the William for its location near Bryant Park – handy for MOMA. and window shopping on Fifth Ave.

  71. My favorite item up for auction is the Summerfields Rose Retreat in South Africa. I’ve always wanted to visit Kruger.

  72. I’d love to stay at The William because I love the colors, style and location of this hotel. It would be so amazing to stay near Bryant Park, Grand Central Station, and an easy subway ride to Central Park or Brooklyn. I’m a California girl at heart but I love the energy of New York City and would take any opportunity to spend some time there exploring all that it has to offer!

  73. Would like to stay at the William for convenience, location, and for what it offers with it’s extended stay capabilities.

  74. My favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary is the 7-night stay in Abu Dhabi – perfect for my Etihad Christmas Day 2014 error fare

  75. Favorite is 2 nights at Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort, Maryland. Went to HS in DC and always enjoyed time along the Chesapeake.

  76. Used to love luxury link. Until they went bankrupt this May. I lost $1.7k that I had paid for a vacation that they never sent to the resort. Hope new management is better…

  77. Katana & Itz’ana Resorts, Belize looks great! I’ve seen these auctions before and wondered about them. This is a great opportunity to try one of them out.

  78. I love visiting the auction site – to bid but also to discover places I hadn’t known about before.

  79. The William hotel has a great midtown location close to Grand Central, which is very convenient for me.

  80. The reason I’d stay at the William over other hotels is style. The color and furniture choices are fun and bright and they’d make a stay in New York feel extra chic!

  81. I like the idea of having a refrigerator for snacks and beverages available in your room and it has a great location.

  82. I love the look of the SHWARI WATAMU VILLA- thinking of bidding on this property, if I can get a group of friends together!

  83. I’d be interested in the Williams as a departure from the chain hotels, which can sometime be cookie-cutter.

  84. The auctions that interest me most are the ones for stays in villas where we can take a trip with friends/family.

  85. Too many good hotels in NYC, but I’m sure Luxury Travel Diary did more homework than I have done so going to give The William a shot next time I go there. Thanks in advance for picking me.

  86. 7 Night Stay At Jannah Burj Al Sarab In Abu Dhabi, UAE because I would like to gift that to my parents for their anniversary. I’ve never been to Abu Dhabi but it seems like an interesting place

  87. I think my favorite item would be the private jet – I’ll soon be flying on EY in F on the 380, which some say is “as close to a private jet as it gets,” but not an actual private jet!

  88. I would stay at The William because it has 2 rooms. Mom/dad (me) in one room and baby in the other. Don’t want to wake the little guy up!

  89. Looks like The William is a cool combination of sleek/modern along with traditional, so it looks to be a unique offering!

  90. Who could pass on Nonsuch House in Dartmouth, Devon. Just the name is intriguing, and the photos look fantastic. I’ll be sitting out on my balcony overlooking the Dart Estuary reading Jane Austen, thank you very much.!

  91. The William seems to offer the best of both worlds: part hotel and part apartment. Perfect for New York!

  92. I would chose to stay at The William over other hotels because it has a great location and looks modern and chic.

  93. 2 nights at The Grand Hotel Punta del Este, Uruguay! I’ve been wanting to go to Uruguay. Winning this might be the reason 🙂

  94. I’ll be in NYC for 3 nights in Jan 2016 and the location of the hotel looks perfect for my trip. Also, pics of hotel look modern and clean. Hope I win!

  95. I would choose to stay at The William over other hotels in NYC due to it’s ideal location for visiting the Reading Room at the NY Public Library as well as it’s vicinity to the 7 train, which was recently expanded to 34th Street on the West Side adjacent to the High Line.

  96. As a Christmas gift to ourselves, my best friend and I are planning a trip to New York City without our husbands. The location and the amenities at The William sound perfect for us!

  97. The 7 night stay at Jannah Burj Al Sarab in Abu Dhabi! Sounds like it’s time to check my airline points and plan a trip!

  98. 2 NIGHTS AT SHAWNEE INN looks great – a great old hotel not too far from home and a great price (hopefully).

  99. This may be like eBay, with last minute bidders driving it way up.

I wonder what some of these actually close at?

    any ideas?

  100. My favorite thing up for action right now is the cottage on Kauai (currently at £50). Would love to get the winning bid! Thanks for this info!

  101. I would pick The William for two reason. One, for the location alone. Secondly for the fact that you feel like you’re in a home feather than some corporate planed hotel chain. It’s individuality stands it apart from the rest.

  102. The William is located right next to Bryant Park in NY, which turns into a veritable winter wonderland and it would be marvelous to stay that close by.

  103. The William looks to be an excellent property, with apartment-like amenities that can make business or leisure travel all the more comfortable 🙂

  104. Three nights at the Rose Cottage in St. Andrews so I could surprise my husband with a trip he just can’t find time to make happen on his own. And, I would try The Williams just to be different – stayed in too many cookie cutter places in NYC because they were cheaper than the fancy brands and, when there, don’t spend much time in the room anyway.

  105. The minute suites offering looks interesting. I am tempted to bid on it and check them out next time in PHL.

  106. The 2 Nights At Villa La Tosca 5-Star Villa Hotel In France looks like an amazing property that would make for a great trip to France!

  107. The William is in a great location near Bryant Park and always great to have apartment like amenities when traveling

  108. After looking at even more auction items, I still like the Rose cottage at St. Andrews. Though a private flight would be cool given I’ve never had an opportunity to do that!

  109. I’d choose to stay at The William over other hotels in NY because 1. the swanky decor 2. the location is pretty darn great and 3. there’s free nights up for grabs in this contest.

  110. The William has a perfect 5-star review from Google, a great Midtown location, restaurants, and rooms that provide comfort and styles. Seems like the perfect NYC hotel to me. And, it’s a former brownstone, to boot!

  111. My fav auction is the Hyatt Andaz Xintiandi in Shanghai because the bid is still low now compare to its value. Keep it low please.

  112. Wow, the aesthetic of The William is so modern and clean without looking too ‘hotel-like.’ Looks like the best mix of a hotel and modern AirBnB. Love it!

  113. My favorite auction is the Rue Cler Bijou Paris apartment. I’ll take any excuse to return to Paris!

  114. I would choose to stay at the William for its location and to experience what other people have shared in their reviews! I love the positivity.

  115. I would choose to stay at The William in NYC to enjoy its fabulous location combined with its fine design. It looks like the place to be in NYC for an extended stay in the city.

  116. What a tough auction choice! I’m actually bidding on several items now on that website as a result of this post. My favorite would be the 6 nights for 6 at Schwari Watamu Villa in Kenya.

  117. I am hoping to successfully bid on The Charles Hotel in Munich for an upcoming trip in December to see the Christmas Markets!

  123. Would love to have the private jet experience! That would be something to look forward to esp transcontinental.

  124. Seeing as how I’ll be visiting Sint Maarten in a couple months, the 3 night stay in St. Bart’s next door doesn’t look too shabby 🙂

Ending in a few hours, I think I’ll drop a bid or two!

  125. Thanks for highlighting this interesting auction page. I would bid on the LUXURY TRAVEL LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP for the opportunity to pick up some luxury travel bargains.

  126. We’re going to NYC in late Oct! I’ve never had the chance to stay in a suite in NYC, since the room at the nicer properties are already heinously expensive enough.

  127. We have always wanted to try an extended stay option in NYC. The William’s contemporary decor looks great and the terrace looks amazing. It also has a great location. Fingers crossed.

  128. Every single item is my favorite — 7 nights at Sardinia sounds wonderful! Weekend stay at Park Hyatt Buenos Aires is great! 7 nights skiing in Italy! Give me two!

I’d love all of those things happen to me 🙂

  135. Favourite item up for grabs is 2 nights at the Charles Hotel in Munich — to visit where they make the best beer in the world!

  136. Staying at the William because 3 nights in NYC could bankrupt someone and it would be great to show my 8 year old the big apple.

  137. I like the 3 nights at Le Sereno St. Barts because I love St. Barts and this looks like an amazing property.

  138. I’d like to stay at the Williams NY because it is like staying in a NY apartment. Plus, Bryant park is a great location to stay in NY.

  139. I would love to stay at The William because I’ve never stayed in a Terrace room and Manhattan might be the best place in the world to do that.

  140. The Candle – because who doesn’t want a $150.00 Candle.

    But seriously how about the
2 Night Weekend Stay At Park Hyatt Buenos Aires either from your review or maybe Lucky’s it is supposed to be nice, eh?

I would like the stay at the Williams – similiar to my first name, but mainly because of the TERRACE, baby (I sound like Johnny Jet when I add ‘baby’)

  141. The best item up for auction for my travel plans would be the 5th Avenue Andaz hotel. I’ve stayed at the Wall Street Andaz several times and would love to switch things up and tryout one of Hyatt’s other Andaz properties.

  142. My Favorite auction item is the 2 nights at the Hyatt Andaz in Shanghai. Too bad it isn’t ending sooner as I will be visiting Shanghai in a couple of weeks!

  143. Okay, so I hit submit – Then double check the rules. See that I made a mistake and now trying to fix it to get my second bite at the apple. I misspelled the Hotel Name it is The William – which is exactly my name 🙂

  144. Sorrel River Ranch Resort in Utah would be the perfect place to start my southwest vacation next spring

  145. A stay at The William would be pretty awesome due to the great location, and the space having more of a private residence feel vs a hotel. That can really turn a 3-day trip into an experience!

  146. Favorite item up for auction? 7 Nights At Hotel Marinedda Thalasso & Spa, Sardinia — I could use a week to relax!

  147. I love trying different hotels every time I’m in nyc. The William definitely appears different than any of the locations I’ve stayed. On top of a great location, sounds like the perfect place to spend a long weekend in the city.

  148. I really like the 4 nights at MAKUNUDU ISLAND, MALDIVES. Resorts/Hotels there all seem to be aspirational.

  149. I would love to stay at The William because of the convenient location right in the heart of the city and it’s a Terrace Suite! Who wouldn’t love that?!?!

  150. I like the Lisbon area hotel because, well I am planning a trip there now anyhow so a great deal would be welcome!

  152. Given that we love Scotland: 7 Nights At Ettrick Cottage In The Isle Of Bute, Scotland – would be my preferred bid.

  153. The William offers fully equipped kitchen, which is an amazing feature for a family! Location is nice, too.

  154. Would stay at The William over other hotels for two reasons; one, it would be free if I won and two, my Dad’s name was William. Truthfully though, the free part is the real reason.

  155. The two night stay at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay would be my favorite, but many of the items have potential.

  156. Why stay at the William: Great location but the concept of color coding the floors and to have large spaces all in the same bright colors seems like something that should be experienced!

  157. I have to say the private jet flight is the best thing on there. Never flown like that before but would go for it for 1k!

  158. A Terrace Suite at the William would be awesome. The convenient location of the hotel makes it great for exploring the city.

  159. I love the look of The William. The use of different colors in every room and the location would put them over the top of a lot of hotels in NYC for me!

  160. The 7 Nights At Hotel Marinedda Thalasso & Spa, Sardinia looks amazing and would be my top choice. Still have not been to Greece and it’s on my short list!

  161. I would choose the William for the kitchen. I used mine each night I stayed at The Element in NYC. Its nice to have the option of making something quick vs trying to find a restaurant.

  162. The William sounds great; I’d rather stay there than a traditional hotel. More room, more privacy, and I’d rather stay in and cook than go out to eat. Thanks for the chance to win!

  163. What I like most about The William is its central location at 24 East 39th Street between Park and Madison Avenues.

  164. Appealing to the adventurer in me, my favourite auction would be:

7 Nights At Ettrick Cottage In The Isle Of Bute, Scotland

  165. Favorite Auction: 7 Nights At Ettrick Cottage In The Isle Of Bute, Scotland

Been dreaming spending some time in the Scottish countryside, as I have been to the Scottish cities several times!

  166. The William for location, style and comfort to those who are detailed-oriented and of particular tastes!

  167. I’d stay at The William for their great location and their modern rooms! I love the straight lines and bright colors!

  168. WOW! Grand Hyatt Playa Del Carmen. I REALLY don’t want others to know how great the Playa Del Carmen Area is or what a fantastic area of Playa this Hyatt is located in (everything within walking distance), so I am putting myself at risk for even saying this!

  169. I’d pick the William over other hotels because it looks like a nice place where I could retreat after exploring my favorite city.

  170. The private jet flight is the most interesting to me …. (but a FREE 3 night stay in NY sounds pretty darn good too!)

  171. The William looks like it would be a fantastic location for a bachelor party I’m planning for next year in NYC!

  172. I’d love staying at the Williams since Bryant Park is so close to theater and lots of trains. Besides you can stop into the Library for a browse.

  173. So many great options but I would bid on 7 NIGHTS AT HOTEL MARINEDDA THALASSO & SPA, SARDINIA – a part of Italy I’ve always been curious to visit.

  174. My favorite item for auction is the cross-country private jet trip – definitely something worth doing at least once!

  175. What a cool new find! Assuming it all lives up to its billing, the auction for the Summerfield’s Rose Retreat in South Africa is really attractive. My wife and I are planning a trip to South Africa in 2016, and being able to tack on a couple of nights at this resort for a handful of GBP would be a fabulous add-on. Thanks for the tip!

  176. I’m hooked on the website. Better than drugs. I love the high of the bidding without the crashing if I lose out because there will always be another auction to get high on.

  177. I’d stay at the William to try something other than the big chain, cookie cutter service of the larger hotels.

  178. The William for sure! It’s within walking distance to Times Square and it feels like you have your own deluxe apartment in NYC

  179. As far as the William goes, it’s hard to beat a spacious room in a hip property that’s really well situated in Manhattan — and a free stay would just make it all the more attractive. Looks like a great NYC base of operations.

  180. The Williams looks great. Bryant Park is great neighborhood. My wife would be pleased with me if I won that!

  181. Favorite auction item has to be the Andaz 5th Avenue NY item — it’s hard getting award nights there during the weekday. I’ve tried.

  182. Entry 2/2- I would choose to stay at the William because it seems like a cozier, more personal stay than staying at a larger hotel. It’d be a nice change of pace.

  183. I’m thinking of 5 nights at boutique Hotel Adriatic in Rovinj, Croatia. A part of the world I’ve never been to.

  184. The treehouse looks great for a family weekend retreat and it is nearby. This auction has many interesting options. Thanks for the heads up.

  185. 7 night stay at Jannah Burj Al Sarab in Abu Dhabi. Mainly because I like to say Abu Dhabi and have been wanting to try Emirates first-class.

  186. Luxury Travel Diary has some good auction items. I like 2 nights at O Hotel Fonte Santa in Lisbon. Also I would rather stay at the Lisbon for a terrace over a hotel.

  187. Favorite Auction would be the private jet. Never flown private before. The William would be great because it is such a great location to explore the city from.

  188. Golf Holidays! YEA — great thing to bid at auction, either for myself or a terrific gift. Indian Wells is my choice out of the three current offers.

  189. My favorite item up for auction is 2 nights at the Grand Hyatt Singapore. I’d use it to visit my daughter who has been living in Singapore for the past 2 years…plus I love Hyatt properties!

  190. I’d love to stay at the William Hotel in NYC so I could get tickets to see the new Picasso Sculpture exhibit at MOMA. Plus my wife and I would love to see a Broadway Show…maybe “Hamilton” if we could get it!

  191. Favorite auction: 2 night weekend at the Park Hyatt Buenos Aires, because I love Park Hyatts, beef, and red wine!

  192. The Williams Hotel looks really nice! Would like to compare it to some of the other places I have stayed

  193. I would love to take my wife to visit New York and the William. It sounds like it is the kind of place she really likes.

  194. I’d like to stay at the William in NYC so I could take my wife to see the Picasso Scupture exhibit at the MOMA, and maybe see a show (“Hamilton” would be great if we could get tickets!)

  195. The William is probably the most colorful hotel I’ve ever seen, which is fitting considering NYC is the most colorful city!

  196. I am new to your newsletter but am enjoying it quite a bit. I have considered myself an informed frequent flyer and usually find some very good deals when my husband and I travel. I would love to add this stay at the William Hotel to my list of “great finds” if I should be so lucky to win it.

As for the auctions, I’ve always felt they were rigged or some sort of hustle. Can you really get good deals in the end? I guess I will find out when I give it a try.

    Thanks for the contest!

  197. I would stay at the William for its great location in Manhattan. My fiancé has never been to New York, I’d love to show her Times Square, Central Park, and other famous sights around NYC.

  198. A friend at work has stayed at The WIlliam and enjoyed it very much. A property that offers both a very convenient location and some genuine “elbow room” in Manhattan, at rates within the realm of reason, is a very attractive thing.

  199. I wish W Taiper is on the list because it is way too cool than anything else I’ve been to! Young, energetic, and fancy!

  200. My wife was quick to flag the auction for a yacht charter. The opportunity, potentially, to grab a four-night Caribbean yacht charter for 201 pounds (or thereabouts) is insane. Seems like a really intriguing website.

  201. Having your own terrace in NYC is a dream that many people have. The terrace suite at William is a wonderful way to fulfill that.

  202. Auction for two nights in Park Hyatt buenos aires really attracts me as I’m planning a South America vacation and I would stay at Park Hyatt buenos aires anyway. It’s the best hotel in buenos aires, and arguably one of the most “authentic” park hyatts out there (along with Park Hyatt Vienna).

  203. The location and neighborhood feel would lead me to choose The William over other hotels in New York. Thanks for the giveaway!

  204. I see an auction for a two night stay at the Park Hyatt in Buenos Aires. I stayed there last January and absolutely loved the hotel, service, and all of the staff. This is a beautiful property with a fantastic Diamond breakfast.

Now that I’m looking around the site, there are lots of great packages!

  205. I would like to stay at the Williams for its location. I’ve stayed, on business, in Manhattan numerous times and I’ve stayed, on holiday, in Queens once. Being in the middle of things there has a definite advantage.

  206. I spy a great 2-night stay at the Hyatt Chesapeake Bay Resort that’s going for more than 50% off standard rates with less than 3 hours remaining on the auction. I’ll be watching this one closely!

  207. My favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary is 3 nights at the Waipuna Estate in Christchurch, New Zealand. It sounds amazing!

  208. Thanks for the heads up on Luxury Travel Diary’s auctions. I like the look of MAKUNUDU ISLAND in the Maldives and would be very happy to stay for three nights at the William in NYC ;).

  209. My favorite one is 3 nights in St Barts. I am looking for a place to celebrate new year, and the idea to stay in a bungalow with a loved one is a hard one to pass by!

  210. I live in Cal but almost all my family is in NY – I would soo love a private plane trip to go visit them!

  211. My wife and I go to NYC twice a year to see shows and we save our free night stays for there. We like the Bryant Park area particularly but would like to try something better than the Radisson Martinique nearby.

  212. What an absolutely brilliant combination –
right in the thick of things, and completely different (modern, almost Asian) from what you’d expect in a NYC hotel.

  213. I’d love to stay at The William because being in the middle of Bryant Park means that it’s at the center of the fashion industry in NYC!

  214. I like the art inspired vibe of the William hotel which gives it a unique personality. I would prefer to stay at the William hotel over other hotels because of its personality.

  215. I’d choose to stay at the William because it’s almost like having my own apartment in NY – and live like a New Yorker!

  216. My favorite item up for bid on Luxury Travel Diary is:

2 NIGHTS AT ‘RUE CLER BIJOU’ APARTMENT IN PARIS

  217. The stay at the William would be great since I live in NYC and it would feel like a luxurous staycation.

  218. My favorite item is the 3 nights at Le Sereno St Barts, Caribbean. I was really tempted to pick the private flight from CA-NY, but 72 hours somewhere beautiful beats out flying private every time for me…

  219. The stay at the William would be great because of its proximity to the Empire State Building, and my wife’s best friend just moved back there from London.

  220. I would choose The William over other hotels in the New York area because of its fine reviews and excellent location within walking distance to about 80% of what I want to see in New York City.

  221. I’d like to stay at the William because of the extra space. So many times I’ve stayed in NYC it’s been in a glorified sardine can. It would be fun to come back to the hotel after a long day and not feel so cramped.

  222. I would choose the private jet flight from New York to LA because if love to visit my Cali relatives when I’m in hometown in New York for break.

  223. My favorite item on the Luxury Travel Diary auction (/I’m most interested in) is the two night Rue Cler apartment stay. My wife and I stayed around there a couple of years ago and it was a perfect location to explore from.

  224. My husband and I would love to stay three-nights in a terrace suite at The William New York rather than in my son’s cramped studio apartment when we go visit him. So far, we have only visited him once since he moved to New York. Love to win this prize. Thanks

  225. I would love to win a stay at the William so I could send my son and daughter in law to be on a nice trip before grad school starts

  226. The technology integrated into the apartment is impressive and I’d love to stay in New York with a fully equipped kitchen!

  227. I’m heading to NYC in February to celebrate my 50th birthday. With the Australian peso plummeting as I type an apartment would be great to save those few extra dollars each day on in room breakfasts and a packed lunch. And of course The William rooms have space to have a few cocktails on the actual day with mates before we head out to dinner.

  228. I’d stay at the William over other hotels because it has an apartment/homey feel. Like a higher end Hyatt Place.

  229. Ll take the Aromaflage candle thats worth $150 because i like obnoxiously overpriced items… And its at a huge discount!

The William would be awedome for a starving student who would really appreciate a nice opportunity to stay in the best city on earth.

  230. NYC is beautiful, the William would just make it even better – not a cramped hotel, but a nice suite!

  231. After just coming back from St. Barts, I’d go there again in a heartbeat…

Three Nights At Le Sereno St Barts, Caribbean for sure!

  232. Private Jet Flight For 2 NY To CA Or CA To NY would be my favorite item on the list. Always wanted to fly private at least once!

  233. I would love to stay at the William in NYC for its proximity to Shake Shack and for a quite place in the big city.

  234. The terrace looks amazing, given how small NY hotels tend to be. Plus I love the bright colors that the William has highlighted in the press photos. 😛

  235. My favorite auction listed is; 3 NIGHTS AT WAIPUNA ESTATE, CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZEALAND, it looked spectacular.

  236. Would love to stay at the William because the rooms seem well sized for the price in NYC, and the extended stay amenities make any trip easier

    [entry 2]

  237. I’d stay at the William because I always wind up at a Hilton property in Times Square. The reasoning should be clear 😀

  238. Some very nice auction options, but I would love to win the 5 night stay at NIRAMAYA RESORT & SPA, QUEENSLAND.

  239. I liked the 3 night auction for resort in New Zealand because my wife wants to go there.
The William looks like a nice place. In real life I would consider it in November or December when I have requalified for my Marriott Platinum. Thanks for the contest.

  240. Hey, this New Yorker could take the 4 train to Grand Central (saving money to pay for room service) and have a great staycation.

  241. Love the 2 night stay at the Andaz Xindiandi in Shanghai at Luxury Travel Diary. Been looking at this site for quite some time now and there are so many amazing deals on it!

  242. MY favorite item for auction from the Luxury Travel Diary is 5 nights at Afitis Boutique Hotel in Chalkidiki, Greece.

  243. I would choose to stay at The William over other hotels in New York due to its size (smaller than the large chain hotels) so that my parents can enjoy their first stay in NY!

  244. For the William hotel – I think that would be great as a comfortable get-away in NY. It looks better than other hotels I have stayed in NYC.

  245. Entry #1: No reason, just that I’ve never won anything really big, and this prize is really, really big!
    Scott

  246. The William: it has location going for it. Reasonable distance from both train stations, and a very tolerable part of town.

  247. I would bid on “3 nights at Nona Lani Cottages, Kihei, Hawaii”. My mother-in-law was raised on Maui and we’ve really enjoyed staying in Kihei and would love to return.

  248. Best auction item is the stay in the Maldives. All inclusive, and massages to boot! What could be more relaxing. I am going to have to research these auctions!

  249. the private jet would be cool
i’d love to stay at the Williams suite for the private terrace overlooking Bryant park

  250. I would stay at The William over other hotels in New York because:
    1) It is within walking distance of –
    a. Thee New York Public Library in Bryant Park

  346. The Williams looks amazing. I love their color palette, with the broad swaths and bright colors. The location is great, too, right near Grand Central.

  347. The Williams looks awesome! I’ve never seen so much space in a hotel room in NY, especially for extended stay!

  348. I would love to win a trip and hotel deal. New York city is a great place to visit. I travel to new York quite a bit. Love the scenery.

  349. Looking at the 2 Nights At The Hyatt Andaz Xintiandi, Shanghai, China. I often go to Hangzhou for business but it’d be great to stop by Shanghai for the weekend and stay at the Andaz.

  350. Everything about The William looks delightful. I always try the boutique hotels in NYC. The bright colors alone are enough to make me want to stay there. The location near Bryant Park just adds to the allure!

  351. I want to spend some time in Argentina and my favorite auction is the “2 Night Weekend Stay At Park Hyatt Buenos Aires” and winning that would give me the perfect reason to finally make it happen and explore the beautiful country.

  352. My choice on the auction would be the stay at the Rue Cler Bijou apartment in Paris. It looks beautiful and would make up for the horrible apartment we rented in Paris a few years ago.

  353. I would want to stay at the William because of its great central location and the extended stay nature of the hotel. It will almost be like I live in New York for a couple of days.

  354. My favorite auction available is the 2 Nights At 7132 Hotel & Spa In Vals, Switzerland. Just because I can never get enough of Switzerland and it is usually very expensive to stay there without these auctions and discounts.

  355. I would love to stay at The William, mainly because of it’s location. The proximity to Grand Central makes it a no-brainer to get anywhere in the city. It also looks like a modern hotel, directly in line with the vibe of midtown!

  356. I would stay at the William over other hotels in the area because many can feel fairly stuffy, or are located in/around Times Square (would much prefer being off the SW corner of Bryant Park).

  357. The William! How can you not want to stay at a hotel named after a prince? Plus, rooms look larger then most hotel rooms, and I love Bryant Park. Would love to try a stay there!

  358. I saw 1 night at the hyatt regency sharm al sheikh egpyt – going to be in the region soon and will be a nice way to spend a night – especially if can get for cheap!

  365. I’d say that my favorite auction item would be the transcontinental private jet flight. This is a total bucket list item!

  366. I look at the color pallet of The William and instantly think “What fun!”. Staying amid vivid designs sets the tone for an exciting NYC trip. Many boutique hotels stay safe with gray, I guess that’s ok if you plan on sleeping the whole time. Kudos to the Williams designers for bold choices.

  367. The 5 Nights At Boutique Hotel Adriatic In Rovinj, Croatia looks amazing. Have always wanted to visit Croatia and this may just be the offer that gets me there!

  368. The William looks like a great place to call home for a few days. The Bryant Park location is fantastic, and the amenities are something you don’t often find at many NYC boutique hotels.

  369. I’d love a stay at The William as it’s such a cool looking place AND right next to my favorite NY urban spot, Bryant Park, where one can sip coffee in the summer and watch the world go by or ice skate over the holiday season!

  370. I have never stayed at the William Hotel. In fact I am not aware of it in NYC. However I am a long standing and very respected museums director in Canada. I oversee some 2000 museums and art galleries in Canada and I am active internationally with UN agencies. I would love to have several nights in a terraced room at The William.

  375. There are a few reasons why The William is my top choice for NYC hotels. The Bryant Park location is incredibly central and makes it easy to get anywhere else in the city. 383. Why would I stay at The William? Because it was free due to winning this competition… obviously.

  384. I am going for the 2 night Grand Hyatt Singapore stay. Will make a great staycation for my parents. =)

  385. I like the auctions for luxury hotels around DC/Maryland. They would make for a nice weekend getaway!

  386. I would choose 2 NIGHT STAY AT LANGANES LUXURY VILLA IN ICELAND. Six people, great setting and there are cheap flights to Iceland. In NY, staying at the William would get me away from my family in NJ for a few nights when I am home for a visit!

  387. The William is in a great location, just a short walk to amazing Japanese restaurants like Hakubai or Sushi Yasuda

  388. My favorite item up for auction at Luxury Travel Diary is 2 nights at 7132 Hotel & Spa in Vals, Switzerland

  398. I will be in NYC for a 3 night-stay in late October and this would be PERFECT! Thanks for the opportunity Gary!

  399. I’d love to stay 2 nights in a treehouse in Missouri. The kids would love being able to stay in a tree house and I’d love to play at the disc golf course located on the property.

  400. The William is in the perfect location, and looks like a great extended-stay hotel meets luxury boutique.

  401. A suite at The William would be perfect for our first visit to New York with our 6 and 9 year old grand children. The location is perfect. The colorful decor appealing to both young and old. The size and the furnishings are just what you need for a family.

  408. We haven’t been to NYC in about 3 years and my wish list would love an opportunity to be exercised!

  409. Stay at the William in New York? Rather. Anyone who promises to curate your life must have found the secret to eternal youth in Manhattan.

  410. My favorite is the diamonds start of the east in zanzibar. I love that the options are that far-reaching.
