All business class French airline La Compagnie flies from Newark to Paris-Orly airport and now is launching Newark to Nice, France seasonally.
The new Nice service runs between May 9 and October 29 four times weekly:
- Newark – Nice, 11:30 p.m. – 1:50 p.m.+1
- Nice – Newark, 6:15 pm. – 10:00 p.m.
And pricing is an amazing $1199.23 roundtrip. Tickets are non-refundable at this price, and there’s a $500 change fee.
La Compagnie’s business class seating is ‘angled’ flat, so certainly not the latest generation product. However it compares well against the only other non-stop flight between New York and Nice, which is Delta from JFK. Delta generally charges over $1000 roundtrip for basic economy and pulling up business class on Delta for the same dates I picked as a La Compagnie example shows a price over $11,000.
I’d gladly take La Compagnie’s inferior business class at the price, and for that matter Delta’s CEO describes business class on their Boeing 767s as ‘the most dated’ they have.

Are the terms of the contracts of carriage, particularly WRT flight rebookings in the event of issues with responsibility lying with the carrier, on equivalent terms?
Don’t know about that, but in the 45 minutes I took for lunch and to explore the logistics of getting from NCE to ZRH, the two lower price tiers disappeared for July outbounds!
Clickbait, because headline does not include “Angled” business class and “From NYC only” and “no miles”
I didn’t consider it click bait at all. They have a rewards program, I went and looked at the airline.
The whole airplane is business class with seating 2 by 2 which is awesome.
The question is…is there any availability on BA for this route. Could be a great use of a companion cert….
