News and notes from around the interweb:
- Pack your own food instead of buying it at the airport (HT: @ChefSamGlass)
- There’s no more safety video on planes that have had their seat back screens removed (and American didn’t even spring for overhead screens), so flight attendants have to do a safety demo.
But the actual announcement is recorded. This crewmember lip syncs with the best of them.
@AmericanAir — Today, I met Stefan on flt #417 from LGA > ORD, and he is now my most favorite flight attendant ever. I have never received a personalized note and this level of entertainment. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ pic.twitter.com/P7SY6Gno9E

- Kabul, Afghanistan trip report
- Is this the pettiest airline fee?
A new favorite junk fee- $3.92 to have Ryan Air send you a text message with your flight details. pic.twitter.com/gRP5Zn4juC

- With Alaska Airlines entering the San Diego – Washington Dulles market, United Airlines has placed a widebody on the route. In response Alaska changes the flight number for its service to “777.”
Remember when @united added a 777 on Dulles – San Diego? Looks like @AlaskaAir has loaded a 777 of its own. Filed in @cirium data last night (so should show online/GDS sometime this weekend), Alaska changes the IAD-SAN flight number from 307 to 777.
Love it. https://t.co/1gOVCsvUV6

- Hold your breath the entire time you’re there.
Checking into a hotel: "Would you like to choose the view from your room?"
Me: "What a great idea… uh?" pic.twitter.com/SQRp3YtdwN
