An Extra Fee To Use Your Laptop? Why Working On Your Next Flight Might Cost You More [Roundup]

News and notes from around the interweb:

  • It costs extra to use a laptop on a plane – either economy plus seats, or paying the person in front of you not to recline.

  • Incredible.

  • Wut. Leeds East Airport owner fined for attack on parish council chairman in birds’ nests dispute

  • I have a seven-figure credit score.

  • This is not an allowable ‘pet in cabin’ which means they’re on board as a service animal. Please do not tell me that ‘airlines banned bringing pets on as service animals’ and ‘all service animals are trained’. It just requires filling out an advance form and saying you have a service animal.

  • Amex used to be seen as more ‘premium’ than other cards. I’m not so sure anymore. Walmart+ is useful to many Platinum customers, but doesn’t that make the card more of a mass consumer product than a luxury brand? And then there’s this:

Ah yes, nothing screams “luxury” quite like…

  1. Yeah it’s not the airlines fault if your laptop gets crushed by a reclining seat, it’s your own fault.

  2. @Nick … +1 . Yep , I laughed when I saw the laptop owner attempt to blame the airline . He can irritate the person sitting next to him , but he cannot accept his own responsibility for his junk.

  3. Yeah after looking at your bright screen and your spreadsheet for hours, I don’t feel sad for you.

  4. Using a laptop while flying in coach can be a very dicey proposition. Maybe the best way is to use it on your lap instead of the tray (which is actually there for being served meals.) Another way would be to ask the person in front to recline slowly instead of violently. I have used a laptop for a short time while in coach but I know the possibilities. The laptop user was at fault in this situation and should not get reimbursement. It is better to not use the laptop while flying.

  5. @jns … +1 . There are only two permitted on my lap to be stroked , and they are a girl or a cat .
