With Uber’s new partnership with Hilton, you can remind yourself to request an Uber when leaving the hotel through the Hilton app. Gee, I’m always forgetting that part.
At least with Starwood’s Uber partnership you can actually earn Starwood Starpoints for all of your rides.
Virgin America is the latest travel provider to tie up with Uber, and their new partnership comes with free Uber rides to the airport (with ticket purchase) and concert trip giveaways.
Virgin America is offering free ride credits (up to $20 each) to the first 10,000 members of their Elevate frequent flyer program who book travel originating at Dallas Love Field by October 12.
The first 10,000 Elevate members to book an originating DAL flight by October 12, will be emailed a unique promo code good for up to $20 off (1) ride that either begins or ends in the Dallas Love Field Airport, by 3/2/16. Discount will automatically apply to the first airport trip after the code has been applied to user’s account. Redeemable (1) code per person. Please allow 7-14 business days to receive your unique promo code.
This promotion is valid for both new and existing Uber users. In other words, if you haven’t used Uber yet you can sign up using someone’s referral code (here’s mine, I would invite you to leave your own in the comments but Uber can get nasty about that) and get your first ride free (up to $20). And you’ll still be eligible to also get a free ride credit with purchase of a Virgin America flight.
It will be interesting to see whether these free ride coupons really take until March 2. I can’t imagine so — when they’re marketing this as ‘buy a ticket, leave your car at home when you go to the airport’.
Of course if they do send out these coupon codes fairly quickly, it would be hard to combat people buying refundable tickets, getting their Uber codes, and refunding the tickets. Of course you’re limited to only one free Uber ride per account so perhaps they’re not going to be overly concerned with the tactic.
Virgin America and Uber are also giving away concert trips through the Uber app.
Enter promo code VXDALFNF into your Uber app and then every Thursday at 3pm be the 9th caller open your Uber app and choose the ‘Friday Night Flights’ option. The “first few users” to do so each Thursday win.
