Via Frugal Travel Guy, the British Airways 100,000 mile credit card signup offer is back.
They don’t seem to be promoting this as hard as back in November, but Rick reports this link came up on an online boarding pass that one of his readers printed.
To remind, it’s 50,000 miles with first purchase and 50,000 more miles after $2000 in spend within 3 months. Spend $30,000 in a calendar year and earn a free companion award ticket.
British Airways offers family accounts, so two people linking their accounts and getting this card can combine their miles — put $2000 on one card, $30,000 on the other, and you have 240,000 miles to use plus a free companion. In other words, $32,000 in spend nets 480,000 miles worth of travel.
Of course, the British Airways award chart is expensive. So a half million miles doesn’t send two people as far as you think it will in premium classes. But this is still an amazing deal, even with the high fuel surcharges on British Airways-metal awards.
Act now before this one disappears again.
Don’t you have to spend 30,000 on each card to get two companion tickets or does linking the BA accounts change this somehow?

That’s how I get to 480k miles worth of redemption for two passengers after a total of $32k in spend.
Sorry I’m confused by this. One card, with 2k spend, gets you 100k. Spend another 30k and get a free companion ticket.
But to get the double (480k miles), you’re talking about a second person (wife, husband) getting a card as well–then linking the cards as a single account? Right? Apologies for my confusion.

My wife and I each signed up for the 100k cards. Didn’t know about the family accounts. How do we convert the two individual accounts to one family account? Would you recommend waiting for all the miles to clear before we change the accounts?
