Via One Mile at a Time Delta partner China Eastern, a SkyTeam member, is running an amazing fare from Los Angeles to Beijing. This may be the best non-mistake fare business class deal to Asia in 20 years: just $1137 roundtrip.
China Eastern’s hub is Shanghai so you’re flying Los Angeles – Shanghai – Beijing. (Shanghai – Beijing will be a narrow body aircraft.)
This fare isn’t coming up at Google Flights or using ITA Matrix but is available through several online travel agencies. Here’s a sample search and here with Kayak.
China Eastern’s long haul business class is fully flat with direct aisle access. Crediting to Delta you’d earn over 21,000 qualifying miles, 28,000 redeemable miles (without any elite bonuses), and 5700 qualifying dollars.
I believe this fare should be refundable for a $500 fee. There’s no change fee but you’ll get repriced (likely to a higher price than this later!) for a new itinerary.
Travel appears to be permitted August 28 through October 3 on the outbound, and you need to return within 6 months.
Air China (Star Alliance) has a Los Angeles – Shanghai fare via Beijing for a few hundred dollars more.
How do I make sure this would be credited to Delta? I just booked on Priceline for $1161.
Thanks for any insights.
call china eastern and given them your delta #, reconfirm at check-in that your # is in the booking
