With the closure of Pakistani airspace, United suspended its India flying. They extended cancellation through late October right before the airspace re-opened. United added India flights back into their schedule. It doesn’t surprise me to see certain flights lightly booked.
As a result they’re using the mileage program to unload seats at a discount. United is running a flash sale – today only – with 50% off awards to Mumbai.

SkyTeam airlines including Delta and Alitalia have business class roundtrips to Italy on sale from $1344. You can depart from several US cities — such as New York, Chicago, Boston, Dallas, Detroit, and Miami – and travel to places including Rome, Milan or Venice.
There may be more cities bookable using this deal, but act fast because this is an amazing fare for travel over holidays that won’t last.

We’ve been waiting for Google to become more aggressive in the travel space for years finally doing something to disrupt online travel booking. For a long time they would help you plan, find deals, and send you to Expedia or Priceline to book.
Now Expedia and others complain that Google doesn’t just send business along to them, but consumers are now the ones who benefit.

A flight from DC to Milwaukee via Chicago might be cheaper than flying non-stop to Chicago. So you add the connection from Chicago to Milwaukee, even though you don’t plan to take it. That’s throwaway ticketing.
That saves you money, but it violates airline rules. You may think you’re buying a seat on both the DC to Chicago and Chicago to Milwaukee flights, and you should be able to do whatever you wish with your seat (take the flight or not take the flight). The airline, though, thinks they’re selling you a ticket from DC to Milwaukee and argues that’s a different product than a flight from DC to Chicago.

Two years ago Equifax data was breached and your information was probably stolen. They’ve reached a settlement that will net hundreds of millions for government agencies and potentially a little bit for you — either 10 years of credit monitoring or up to $125. You can also get reimbursed for actual expenses and even your time.
You can check if you’re eligible for money (because your data was included in the breach) and if you are file a claim by January 22. In addition there’s a Fairmont hotels settlement to sign up for.
