The 6 year old unaccompanied minor that Spirit Airlines sent to the wrong airport – to Orlando instead of Fort Myers, Florida – isn’t the only minor flown to the wrong place by a U.S. airline this holiday season.
It was, naturally, another Florida flight. The 16 year old was flying from Tampa to Cleveland and wound up in San Juan on December 22.
An American Airlines flight from Rio de Janeiro to Miami on Saturday experienced a disturbance prior to departure involving a passenger who had a meltdown. The incident, captured on camera, showed the man screaming in Spanish, claiming he was being killed.
Crew members and passengers intervened, restraining the man and attempting to use duct tape to secure him. The man yells “help” and “they’re killing me” in Spanish, while a passenger attempts to use duct tape on his mouth.
A passenger in India was arrested for making a bomb threat against a flight in order to get his lost wallet back. He’d flown Spicejet from Delhi to Bangalore on Tuesday and realized he left his wallet on the plane after he landed and was about to leave the airport. Still standing by the airline’s ticket counter, he was easy to arrest.
With temperatures falling to less than 50 degrees below zero at cruising altitude, and lack of oxygen, conditions are excruciating. There are 132 people known to have stowed away in aircraft wheel wells between 1947 and 2021, and they have a mortality rate of 77%.

This has to be the worst nightmare of any passenger seated at the window on a plane. A woman documented the man beside her in the middle seat reaching past her in order to photograph out the window. He leans. He reaches. He, in effect, took over both his middle seat and her window seat.
Writer Sarah Bengard shared a photo of a woman traveling on a Delta flight with her younger brother. And she said “he’s gagging.” The woman has her bare feet propped up, rested against the sides of her seat back entertainment screen.
If there’s ever been a good argument for American Airlines’ decision to remove seat back entertainment screens from its domestic fleet, this has to be it.
A United Airlines passenger flying to Saint Martin on Thursday pulled down their tray table to find children’s drawings in orange, green, black and blue.
This wasn’t the only – or even biggest – problem they had with their flight. They note rude flight attendants and that “a fight broke out.” The only thing they had to say about their tray is that “no one bothered to clean” it. But it shouldn’t have even been dirtied like that in the first place. Who draws pictures on their seat back tray, instead of using paper?
A Delta Air Lines passenger flying from Atlanta to Houston this week found themselves sitting in coach besides not one but two support dogs.
Two separate passengers seated beside each other in the same row, in the window and aisle seats, brought on support animals. These were two dogs that did not know each other prior to the flight.
A United Airlines passenger complains about “the worst flying experience” ever after they were told they would have to gate check a bag that didn’t fit in the sizer, even though they’ve successfully flown with it in the past. Their bag almost fit but was a little too large because of the wheels.
The passenger refused to check the bag and a supervisor allowed them to bring it on board anyway. Seems like a great flight to me, but one that flags a common misunderstanding about air travel. You might not be so lucky!
