Daring Rescue Of Airline Crew Whose Plane Was Set Ablaze In Sudan [Roundup]

News and notes from around the interweb:

  • The crew of the Saudia Airbus A330 that was set ablaze in Khartoum has been extracted.

  • El Al passengers pay tribute to Yehonatan Geffen with impromptu sing-along

  • Um.

  • Your periodic reminder that American Airlines had developed a maintenance program for seat power back in 2017, but scrapped the idea due to cost.

  • American’s Los Angeles – Auckland seasonal service returns. It’s part of their Qantas joint venture, but still is significant because it’s Pacific flying from Los Angeles that isn’t to a JV hub. American has said they no longer consider LAX their transpacific gateway – indeed their existing Auckland service is from Dallas.

  • I miss Virgin America.

  • Chrissy Teigen likes Delta’s current inflight meal service.

  • She’s forgotten that her members work for… airlines? (She tries to square the circle, arguing that “we can’t land planes or take off” because of climate change.)

  1. When celebrities post about a brand, it’s a paid partnership.

  2. I mean, I get that passengers should receive the working seat they paid for, but these ridiculous, melodramatic “OMG my armrest isn’t perfect, we’ll probably crash because the plane isn’t well maintained” hot takes are so absurd.

If this person had a legit concern about the plane’s safety then self-preservation instincts would have kicked in and they would have deplaned. They just wanted attention.

  3. Gary – a TYPO: On this page, about the A330 set on fire in Sudan, you said :

“The crew of the Saudia Airbus A330 that was set ablaze in Kabul has been extracted”.

I assume that needs to be changed to “Khartoum”. 🙂
