Here’s another great deal from SecretFlying: United is offering roundtrips between many US cities (generally Delta hubs) and Australia for as little as $532.
This does not appear to be a mistake fare, just a serious fare war. And it’s as cheap as I have ever seen Australia flights. The fares appear available through at least end of November for the outbound flight.
This isn’t a pure mileage run, it’s a great fare to see Australia, since you can’t return until 10 days from your departure to qualify for the fare. Fares are non-refundable and there’s a $300 change fee. So only buy if you’re sure you want the tickets, but act quickly as these fares won’t last long.
Here’s the prices and cities suggested by SecretFlying:

Seattle – Sydney: $542

Here’s a calendar of availability in June for week to 10 day Australia trips, Atlanta – Melbourne:
So these fares are widely available not just on a few days. Here’s what Atlanta – Melbourne looks like:
The fare basis is LLE01BM0. ‘L’ fares earn 100% of flown miles with Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer so I’d consider crediting the flights to a Singapore Airlines account to earn nearly 20,000 miles roundtrip versus about 2000 for a base member of the MileagePlus program.
Thanks, Gary. Just booked 2. That, plus a 12+ day cruise around Oz and the islands, totals $1500 per person. Not bad!
Also, want to add the LAX-SYD fight is on a 787, which makes those seats in coach and the jet lag a bit more tolerable.
Just booked two from dtw – Syd on July 1-16 for $571 each. Ended up getting it through a site called “hop2″. Feeling unconfident about it as they required me to call since it said ” the price was so cheap”.
Will update if I receive issued etickets or cancellation. The whole process seems sketchy.
Has anyone had experience with hop2?
What other options are there for earning miles on this flight other than Kris? Aeroplan worth it? I think it’s 50% looking at aeroplan site. Thanks.
These are showing up on the United website. Also showing up there is a refundable coach V fare for $1148 RT/$574 OW for ATL-MEL. Fare lock also available.
Business class $3603 RT also on United website seems very low.
Whoops, that’s 3603 OW for Bus Class so not a smoking deal.
Needing help booking, went to try and it’s coming up one person for $1100 I put in the dates and over 10 days.. from Seattle to Brisbane (which says should be around $575?
So disappointed, can’t find these prices anywhere 🙁
I have tried all the websites mentioned here including United.com and entered in the same dates/destinations as some of your examples and can’t find these prices. So disappointing, we’ve just got to get out to see my father-in-law who’s fighting cancer! I know things change on airfare so quickly, maybe I just missed the window?
Please advise! Also how am I to keep an eye out for these things?
Looks like it is not available anymore?
looks like the june flights start at $500 plus for outbound only……are the RT fares in the $500 range gone already? thanks. Great website and info!
At some time during the night Quantas matched the fare for $547 rt to either Syd or Brisbane. I got Kayak to price it slightly higher for open jaw. But the results had expired for all airlines by this morning. I tried half the day.
Do these specials include coming from Australia to Lax?
Thank you
Pulling my hair out! I’ve searched the last couple days and can find nothing under $1,100 USD LA-Melb RT between July and early November (Delta, United, Quantas…). What am I doing wrong? I don’t want to get fleeced if there’s a deal to be had.
