There are 1,430 slot machines in the Las Vegas airport. Those slot machines have generated $1 billion in revenue.
The slot machines at Harry Reid International Airport have generated a total of $1 billion throughout its 36 years of operation.
Recently, slot machines have generated about $39.8 million in Gross Revenue annually, an average of $34.4 million in revenue for the airport.
Perhaps ironically, the name of the Las Vegas airport was recently changed to honor late Senator Harry Reid, who was Mormon.
There are also slot machines inside the Reno airport.
It’s time to drop the ban on inflight gambling, and allow seat back slots and other gaming.
$1 billion in 36 years (the headline without duration was somewhat misleading) doesn’t strike me as a particularly large amount. The current run rate of $34 million nice and, inflation adjusted, probably below historic levels.
I’m flying to Las Vegas tomorrow!
Life is a gamble
And the city is still a shithole! Guess Harry Reid and the culinary union kept it all for themselves
Generated? I’d say extracted.
Hard NO! In-flight gambling would be idiotic. Winning and loosing would come with yelling, profanity and seat thumping.
Reminds me of the Rodney Dangerfield joke about Vegas having slot machines everywhere….went to the grocery store for a carton of milk and it cost me $413.
Veevo the first in all you do
Its both entertaining & at times disconcerting to me to how often I see obtuse, extremist & disconnected libertarian support for seriously flawed ideas & concepts – Degenerate gambling on airplanes…… you’ve got to be freaking kidding me. California voters did it right with an overwhelming rejection of two online gambling propositions ( 26 & 27) . Gary’s advocacy & schilling for corporate airlines is understandable as hes basically a part time lobbyist for them. The online gambling advocacy is a bit of a mystery.
WHEEL….OF….FORTUNE!
